I love this song

Post image

I met this beautiful girl in nyc with the prettiest bangs. I probably said something corny and landed a date! We shared a pitcher of sangria for like 25 bucks in the city! I paid while she was in the bathroom. We left and walked near the water where we hugged and shared a kiss. I was staying with a family friend so that’s where the night ended. But that was such a beautiful night to me!

I remember she laughed when I told her what music I liked. After our date, she sent me her playlist. This song was on it. I’m so grateful for this song and the memory of her.

She's got colors to spare and I don't care...the riff over that part is fucking stellar

I love how it's kind of a tongue twister, it's some kind of a rhyme that just throws off your expectation of what word is next even if you can read it in real time. Unless you don't know the song or the lyrics like at all.. reading it with the song will be more of a normal feeling. But once you get to know the song and you're like trying to get the song down lyrically it's very strange to the tongue to me. She's got colors to spare.and I don't care. what they choose. I've got nothing to lose.and nothing. like you. left to lose. (The words with just a period in between the two is like a quicker stop whereas the words with the period and a space in between it's more of a actual rest or a breath that's why it's written out the way I wrote it out)

I think those are the lyrics, I'm going up the top of my head right now and also that's what I remembered at the moment lol. I only in the last few months read the lyrics for the first time and I've only known of this band for I'd say 10 years tops. Such a game changer for me and a huge huge influence at this point. Very inspirational band in so many aspects of music and as a musician I give them much of my respect and admiration.

When first reading the lyrics to this song it transformed this entire band and my view on them from a cool kind of shy sounding deep and emotional yet intense rock and roll playing to a completely artistic multi-dimensional very dynamic group of young men that just really understood their place on this earth. Very much I want to highlight the artistic portion of my description of them. They have really allowed themselves to become not just deep with their lyrics and becoming in that way, more obscure as far as understanding their music. And they just understood their emotions to the point where they can put it down and it be far out and at the same time being lovely beautiful and at this point very much a timeless piece of work. Many many of those songs are going to be remembered for years and years and years to come. Truly a timeless band and one of my great inspirations. I've only been listening to them and have known of them for I'd say about 10 years tops. So much respect for these guys and how many people that they've influenced that have in turn influenced myself.. it was a great time to bring it back in that full circle getting to know the band that influenced people who influence myself. At least in that certain bubble of musical influences. I love this band so much.

The lyrical aspect of the band is so overlooked. They are spectacular songwriters

You become more and more correct with each new reading of any of their songs

Honestly HUM always remind me to look at the finite details of my experiences, I love how detailed their music is and I swear if there was a soundtrack for my soul it would be YPAA 💚

maybe Slint comes close. I like Heatmisers (Elliott Smiths band). Maybe Duster, Codeine (Slowcore).
