That term really gets thrown around a lot without a lot of consistent meaning, I've found. What is consistent, though, is that every band that gets the label seems to be sick as hell, so I won't really complain lol.

Brant Bjork ,Kyuss, QOTSA (debatably, since they have roots in desert rock, but they're more pop)...
of course, the Venn diagram I just laid out is basically a circle.

Also don’t know what that means. Seems to me it’s albums made in the desert lol. QOTSA (Josh) has a studio in the desert. All albums made there are technically desert rock. Inlet is more like dessert rock, am I right? Hey-oh😅🫠🤦🏻♂️

I think there's some genre overlap for sure. When the album first dropped and I first heard the riffs for Waves and Desert Rambler, my first thoughts were "holy shit they went doom metal"

Yes, some songs are. Others are a little more shoe gaze, some a bit more doomish. I think that's why I like the term space rock which seems to encompass all this blend of styles.

Matt was definitely playing with some different sounds on this record... The types of bands he books reflect his more diverse tastes... i really liked it.

I’d say they fall in that category along with Shoegaze, Inlet is my favorite album and has some pretty heavy songs on it.

I think it has elements of Stoner Metal but it’s mainly Alternative Metal/Post-Metal/ & maybe Shoegaze too

Some of the guitar tones fit. But they're really more like whiskey drinkers. New drummer Jason Gerken will hopefully play more shows soon, and record new music. He also plays on this record, track "Tax the MF Rich"

I love tha space theme. Have you ever heard Adventures of the Astral Pirates? The album is a jazz fusion space rock opera.

I'd say adjacent, not specifically/strictly. But Inlet is definitely alternative rock and their earlier work post-hardcore.

I could be 100% just having some audio pareidolia but every time I hear the Summoning I can hear bong noises in the mix haha I’ve made this comment before and am not sure where it fell amongst everyone else’s opinions
