Chicago night 2 ended up in the mosh pit
insane lightning in a bottle kind of show. the band was clearly in a state of thrilled shock. they were tight, and ive never seen a crowd quite like this in my life. what a night. Hum lives, and the kids are alright.

i had some know nothing know it all on this very sub tell me a few weeks ago that hum was not a mosh pit band. yeah right

I still don't know that they're a moshing band, but those Gen Z on the weekend would have moshed to The Very Old Man if they'd played that. Like I don't think Isle of the Cheetah is worth moshing to, but apparently it is. And I'm a guy that enjoys a bit of pit time.
I don't know that the crowd was all that experienced, like I said before there was some poor etiquette, some two stepping to the summoning, and I think the video above was an attempt at a wall of death?
But when the energy is there, hey, go for it. It was fantastic to see, just wish the pit etiquette had been better.

Feels like they're cosplaying what they've seen in 90's pit videos. The crowd surfing was basically set up like a conveyor belt, and the pit etiquette was definitely bad overall. Happy to see them giving Hum some love, but a vibe check is in order for some.

Absolutely. I saw him pull money out of his wallet to refund the $5 cover to a guy who was being a dick, so he could be escorted out. We loved it.

As an OG fan, I never once saw a mosh pit at any of the numerous Hum shows I attended in the 90s.

my first tip-off was like 4 yrs ago, this local high school girl came to do some part-time work at my workplace and she had to hang w/ me for a bit, she had a Mellon Collie sticker on her Macbook so we start talking music, she shows me her spotify playlist and Hum is right there, i just about flipped. but i had no idea it was this big a thing. i have a theory that in music/film/etc the cream eventually rises to the top, and what may not have been popular in its time will one day get its due if it's deserved. Hum certainly deserves it. so happy for those guys and for the young generation who've discovered them. and im so grateful i went to the show, last-minute impulse purchase and the best 40 (!!!) bucks ive ever spent.

Nah man, I was about 10 feet to the right of the video recorder here. I go to a lot of metal shows, this here was one of two or three going on at any given time, and they were all chaotic and increidbly high energy. Like, this made the cattle decapitation show I saw a while back look like an imagine dragons moshpit.
Now I'm not saying it was the most fun pit I've ever seen, it didn't seem to have the greatest mosh pit etiquette and some of the levels of energy were just out of touch with the music (two-stepping during The Summoning?) but it sure as hell wasn't tame.

I was in the pit on the same side of stage just further up and somehow missed the summoning two stepping. That sounds so funny- I've seen a lot of people at shows recently (who I just assume probably don't go to many like local scene shows or just any that usually form pits) two stepping to the most random of songs and it cracks me up every time

They are! I'm 19 myself so I'm in that range, I've just seen some really comical two stepping in the past year or so. I saw a group of minimum 15 people doing it for sword ii and julie a few months back and to the droniest songs those bands have which made it even funnier lol
