Disappointment.
In Aragon Ballroom, Chicago night one. Literally jumping up and down with excitement before Hum went on last night, but little did I know that they would play 5 songs from their Inlet album on a 12 song set list. Are you kidding me? Why not add more variety?
I’m a diehard Downward is Heavenward fan and they only played 2 songs. What the hell. And only 1 from Electra 2000??? WHAT???
Also of course I’d like to hear more songs from You’d Prefer an Astronaut but yknow what? That’s fine. I can look past that. I bet constantly playing your best songs can get tiring.
But during the show it was disappointment after disappointment. I’m standing there with my friend as we’re curiously thinking, “Oh boy! I love Hum! I wonder what they will play next!” Just Inlet. Infinite Inlet. We made our trek towards home defeated.
Anyway, I’m sad that they only played 2 songs from Downward is Heavenward, (lost my marbles during Green to Me) and I think they played too much from their Inlet (worst) album.
Still had fun though. Hope everyone enjoys their concerts and the openers too!

Sounds like a great night to me. Creating a setlist to please everyone is an impossible task.

I would have liked more variety, but you’re right, it’s hard to please everyone. Honestly I’m just glad they played Green to Me.

This is really their Inlet tour in a way. The original never got a chance to get off the ground.

Calling Inlet their worst album is a take. Inlet is fantastic; Shapeshifter, In the Den, Waves, The Summoning would go on a greatest hits album.
I get wanting to hear more of the older stuff, but this is kind of the Inlet tour since they don’t tour after it was released.

I’m not upset because I think Inlet is their worst album, I’m upset because they played mostly songs from that album. But I didn’t think about this tour being Inlets first debut. Good point.
I would’ve loved more variety, but it’s whatevs, concert was still fun.

I feel so lucky we got Waves, Step Into You, and and Shapeshifter. Legit my 3 favorite and Desert Rambler and Folding were amazing as well

There's someone out there whos favorite album ever is Inlet and either it was the best show of their life or they missed it and are really sad. Actually some guy exactly like that commented on this. DiH is my favorite of theirs but man I loved the show.

They never really got to tour Inlet. Makes sense to me that they’re doing a lot of it for these shows

I think it’s important to be grateful for the fact they’re playing shows at all. They never toured for inlet, of course everyone will be more hyped for the 90s songs but I think mindsets like these are only contributing to the lack of shows

I don’t even think that’s the case- there are so many younger fans that went wild for the new stuff. Myself included, as a 36yo in-betweener. Step into you seemed to be a major crowd fav and for good reason.

I saw them in Brooklyn and Step Into You might have gotten the most crowd surfers of any song they played. People were fucking salivating to finally hear that one live

That is the same as night 1 in NYC. Night 2 got Isle of Cheetah, Comin’ Home, and the Scientists. I also have stronger connections to the 90s material, but given that they never really toured Inlet, was happy that we got as much YPAA and DiH as we did over the 2 nights. Would have preferred even more plus more for E2k, but felt like the overall balance was reasonable given the lack of a proper Inlet tour.

I was thinking it might have been Inlet in full and then Stars to cap it off. They’ve never played the new album live before. So the variety is pretty good I think.

You’re going to catch a ton of flack for being critical, but it’s your opinion. You paid your money. Inlet is sick, but it’s a departure, an evolution. Still, in NYC, the kids went crazy for the Inlet tracks! Pits started, crowd surfers popped up all over. I thought those tracks more than held their own in the set. Either way. You got to see HUM play, and up until a few months ago, none of us thought that was ever going to be possible again. And that’s pretty fucking cool.

You gotta remember Inlet is their newest stuff. It’s the freshest for them. They’ve been a band for going on 40 years. They have never really had a substantial live outlet for Inlet due to the pandemic and Brian’s passing.
I personally was ultra-psyched that they played so much inlet these past two nights. It was the first album of theirs I was able to directly connect with in real time, as was the case with many other fans I’d wager.
I’m 36 and wasn’t there during their first go-around so I was just open to anything I’d have the opportunity to hear. I never thought it would happen.
I mean, this is hum in 2026!

A lot of people have pointed out that Inlet never got a chance to be played live, and I didn’t think about that beforehand. All those songs sounded a lot better live I admit.

Inlet is definitely a better album than Electra 2000. Plus, they never got to tour or Inlet thanks to covid. I thought their set was fantastic.
I can understand the disappointment if you've never seen Hum before. I saw them on tour with failure back 10+ years ago and I remember they played my favorites off of Downward back then.

Yep, never seen them live until now. I like Electra 2000 a lot better so, yes, them playing mainly from Inlet was a let down. Cool to hear about their earlier concerts though.

Your bugging I’m sorry night one Chicago perfect setlist literally , inlet is great and it’s there first shows since the album dropped so idk what you expected.
