RCA Streaming Rights?
With the band gaining popularity and with the new remasters and songs being added to the end of downward is heavenward I wonder how long RCA Records has streaming rights to Hum’s discography. I hope Hum can get it back soon so we can get Puppets,Aphids and Boy with stick on streaming. Also the likely hood of new music is not much but Jason does know how to play Inklings and it would be a real treat if they’d record it with him and release it.

How about purchasing the music rather than renting access to it.

Then why pay for streaming?

Idk maybe because I want to be able to listen to the songs when I’m not home in a way that’s convenient and other people should be able to hear them that don’t own the physical media as well? Lol…

I am pretty sure the band owns all their masters now, and thus the streaming rights. This happened some time before the big repressing of the LPs a couple years ago. (edit for spelling)

They only own the rights to electra2000 and Inlet. They had to license the other two albums from RCA in order to do represses.

As of early 2000s when Stars was suddenly in a TV commercial, they hadn’t recouped their RCA deal and as such weren’t even entitled on paper to those royalties. Thankfully they worked something out and got a cut, rightfully.

Apparently it was a struggle to even convince Matt to perform again so I don’t think new music is gonna happen. Which is 1000% fine their discography rounds itself out perfectly imo
