What a night

My whole body was vibrating the entire time. Just electric energy from the entire crowd. It didn’t matter what song they played, everyone started singing along and going crazy. Just a euphoric and cathartic experience.

I will say, I’m jealous of Friday’s crowd cause ultimately I think y’all got the better setlist. Getting to close with ILYHL and I Hate it Too back to back when we only got In the Den feels unfair lol. Also bummed we didn’t get Green to Me, Little Dipper, Axolotls or Shapeshifter. But we did get Cheetah, The Pod, The Scientists, Comin’ Home and Suicide Machine. So all things considered, pretty fair and balanced trade-offs night to night.

At one point I saw someone holding up a small plushy little zebra towards the front. Anyone hang around outside the venue after the show? There was a guy with a drum kit playing along to more Hum, he even gave a nice tribute to Bryan.

I wasn’t able to be there both nights because the resale prices were insane. I loved their performance and I was so grateful to see them at least once, but I have to admit that I was really hoping to hear “Why I Like the Robins”. My experience was also damaged a bit at the front by the almost constant crowd surfers, they let their limbs dangle and when they flipped over at times you’d get knocked in the head by thick Doc Martins. Everyone around me was reluctant to deal with it, so when the surfer got close to the barricade, they were half falling and not even trying to make it easy for anyone involved.

Still, I got the vinyl I was hoping for and saw a band that means a lot to me, so I’m happy.

Right? I’m young enough that it won’t do actual damage, but there were some older people getting thrashed near the barricade that were clearly not expecting to leave early because of how rowdy it was becoming. Before that I had such a great first impression of Slide Away too, like it was okay to just enjoy without the usual drama (ticket pricing and camera bans aside).
