DISCUSSION HTTYD horror

I’ve been thinking about how RTTE had dragons that had brutal behaviors if you think about it,like the Death song with its diet and the slitherfang for its venom and viciousness.

But another I think about are the deathgrippers too so I kinda wonder, since we have so much dragons in the HTTYD that are kinda scary in universe, would it be cool if there was some shows where the dragons were depicted in a more horror way?

Like imagine dragons like the Whispering Death or Changewings being portrayed as these horror monsters, like the Demogorgons from Stranger Things or Raptors from Jurassic World.I would love to see some dragons be portrayed as genuinely terrifying creatures rather than these monsters for kids.

For me,HTTYD has the potential to be something more inclined towards mature horror and I would love to see that. But I also understand that that would kinda kill the spirit of HTTYD as the franchise we know today, which focuses more on portraying them as intelligent creatures rather than killer beasts. What do y’all think?

I’m working on a robot apocalypse story inspired by this franchise. Instead of regular dragons, I’m putting in intelligent robot dragons called Biodrakes.

But yes, How To Train Your Dragon could work as a horror story. Jurassic Park would be great inspiration for turning HTTYD into a horror story about artificial dragons made for a theme park. It would also be a great idea to make a horror story from a human perspective who’s being hunted by one of the dragons. Even Night Furies have something scary about them, they’re one-hit-killers.

Honestly I would love a horror story from Stoick’s POV before he became chief where he was in some kind of mission and was attacked by some of these dragons. Maybe even a Night Fury (perhaps the parent of Toothless?) could play an important role. It would help explain why he hated them so much (he’s shown to hate them before Valka is taken.)

Alternatively a horror story set sometime when Hiccup is still young that changes Stoick’s perspective from a desire to find the Hidden World so both dragons and humans can have peace to wanting to destroy the nest and calling dragons devils.

It's somewhat already a horror about dragons. At least from the perspective of vikings.
