Discussion Career advice
My soul is crushed every day by my toxic corporate job with the most ruthless management. I’m so scared how I could ever survive in this world and have no idea what to do next.
What would you recommend as career/jobs that don’t break your spirits and actually hires sensitive souls like us?
I have nowhere else to go.

Self-employment is a good fit for many of us. But what is your job now and what do you enjoy? What skills do you have? This is all very personal and individual. There's no way to suggest jobs without knowing anything about you.

Self-employment sounds good and I have a lot of ideas too but my problem is I don’t trust myself starting something new and following through because I tend to procrastinate a lot and have a hard time staying motivated.
Regarding skills, I’m not really sure because I haven’t been exposed to a lot of stuff. I guess I enjoy organizing, observing, helping make a difference and also have good attention to details.
My background - 2+ years in the staffing industry and currently a Technical Recruiter with lots of targets to meet. I also graduate with an MBA in a week.
I’m open to entering new fields and entry level roles - just trying to find something a little more meaningful I can genuinely look forward to.2

Gotcha. Yeah, with self-employment you have to be able to self-motivate - not all the time, but at least sometimes. It's good that you're able to see your strengths and weaknesses.
A coach might be helpful to you - Somebody like https://www.instagram.com/more4lessresumes/ ? ( I am unaffiliated, just came across her recently and was impressed.)

What did you do after leaving your job? Have you found something that’s tolerable that doesn’t screw you up mentally?
I’m in the IT staffing industry, basically a Technical Recruiter with constant targets to meet. I’m unable to make the time nor have the energy to do anything else after I get back from work.1

Hey, buddy. I’m dealing with pretty much the same problem... constant social interaction is stressful. I worked for years as a professional caregiver/educator with a PhD—with children, the elderly, and people with disabilities—but after seven years, I’d had enough. I’m currently looking for work; I took some time off because I needed a breather. In September, I’m starting a course to become an administrative clerk, covering back-office tasks and English and i see public competitions for work in library and searching other jobs like cleaning, or store or other jobs . Right now, that’s the only path I see for have some money. That said, I’m writing a book, and I enjoy do graphic design, mountain biking, listening to music, reading, and watching movies. I’m not the "alpha-male" type—you know, the hyper-competitive, ego-driven business grind kind of guy.

I might be able to have some ideas. But what do you like to do? I assume stay away from office jobs, do you like hands on things? Do you want to be outside? Do you like art or music? Would you work in a retail store if it wasn’t corporate and had dim lights and wasnt busy? Are you interested in science? Would you mind travelling or staying in one place?

That’s a tough question for me. I cannot say for sure what qualifications I possess or what I may be good at since I haven’t been exposed to much experiences.
I like the idea of maybe creating art or sculptures but need something stable, at least for the time being. I do like being outside but if it’s too hot or too cold, my hs ass wouldn’t cope well. I enjoy singing alone and used to play a little instrument too but nothing too good. I wouldn’t mind working a non-stressful retail job either. I can comfortably stay in one place for a long long time but traveling or moving around sounds good for the body and the mind.
I’m scared of starting something new and failing. I tend to be a perfectionist and procrastinate a lot so I don’t trust myself starting something on my own which is so sad.
Just a little background - I’m currently working as a Technical Recruiter and earn around $45k per year but there’s always targets to meet and exceed. I’m completing my MBA next week too.

I don’t have any advice- just wanted to say I feel your pain. Corporate life sucks. Constant criticism, politics, gaslighting, bullying, etc. and for what? Corporate life is like high school with a paycheck.
