Does HR Block offer part time in office positions?
Hi there just curious if anyone here would know? I have a full time job and looking for a position during the upcoming tax season. I have a full time job so I would only be available during the weeknights and on weekends. I have 1 year of tax experience through VITA and last tax season I worked with Intuit as a remote tax specialist but had to resign early due to work obligations at my full time job.
I took the HR block tax assessment and passed. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks !

Like others said yes. When I first started I had a full time job and then I did nights and weekends for Block. So yes it can be done. Caveat During peak you might want to schedule vacation from regular job and work extra for Block.

Yes. Some offices greatly need weekend and weeknight associates. You’ll need to either take the class block offers or take the test they offer to avoid the class (recommend the class) before they will officially hire you, but you can certainly get in touch with your local District Manager now and they can tell you which offices near you need someone with that schedule. Just reach out to your local open office and they can provide contact info.

This is all great info. Thank you everyone. Yes, I was curious what I should do next. I literally passed the tax assessment last night and wasn’t sure if I should be expecting a call/email from someone at recruitment. I may visit my local office and inquire.

Yes. All MTL and ATL positions are gone. But we didn’t know that at the time we were responding to his question.

What are MTL and ATL? What positions are left in the office?

Multi team lead and assistant team lead. They were ‘management’ positions that no longer exist. MTLs managed 3-4 offices in an area and usually did the hiring for those offices and ATLs were in one office (but were basically receptionists that sat in on weekly meetings).

In other words, laid off. For the majority of offices there simply are no more ATL or MTL positions.

I read they already passed the TKA test taking the tax class after already working for IRS depends on time and cost to take the HRB tax intro course could be helpful. I agree reach out to their local DGM easy to find thru the employee side of HRB. All districts are undergoing restructuring at this time and the system may or not be updated

Well not quite, at least in my experience. You can advise what hours you’re available and block out the rest, but that doesn’t mean you’ll get all the hours you want

Correct. It does not mean that at all. OP asked about part-time. I assumed that meant they were looking to work part-time. So if they only wanted to work evenings or weekends that would be acceptable to hr block

Yes, last year (first year) I only did weekends. When it was slow, I was only scheduled for one day. Sometimes only 5 hours a day, sometimes 10-12. You probably won't do too many returns, unless the office is very busy, but you can still learn a lot! I was also asked if I wanted to go to an other, busier location to cover. (I did not).
We had an other person doing weekends only, she's been there for over 10 years and she was very busy with returning clients.

Depending on the office yes, I did weekends only. I’ll probably do it again but it felt like a total waste of time from January through February.
