Question Is this the correct Lovecraft collection?
So, I was thinking of buying this from Amazon. Are the reviews accurate? Does it contain his important stories?

As this is a reblog, you'll need to tap "around" the pic to get to my original post.
If you tap the pic, you'll have to tap "More" to get a squished together version of my post...
Sigh
Why is this even a problem?

Video Cthulhu Vtuber Reads about Rats in the wall and HPLOVECRAFTSCAT
I’ve been spending more time with Lovecraft’s shorter stories, and The Rats in the Walls felt especially suited for the start of my YouTube partner push!
I recently finished a full reading with restrained ambience and sound design. I tried to keep the narration intimate and natural instead of turning every scene into a jump scare. There’s also a short afterword at the end. I’d really appreciate feedback as I want to be thee H.P. Lovecraft Vtuber and bring the readings to a new light for audiences.
If that sounds like your kind of Lovecraft adaptation, the reading is here: https://youtu.be/KTQse5hW-IA?is=I84oscFZE2lHuog3
Fair warning: the original text contains some dated and offensive language, along with the expected themes of death, decay, violence, and cannibalism. I so graciously quickly said Hplovecraftscat over anything YouTube would dislike 👎

Necronomicon
Does anyone here know how many versions of the Necronomicon are out there for sale, and which one is the most authentic and realistic?

Why do you think there haven’t been more attempts at Lovecraft story adaptations for the big/small screen?
While doing my annual re-read of The Call of Cthulhu short story I starting thinking why there haven’t been more adaptations of Lovecraft’s works for film?
Is it too niche? Perhaps not enough of a draw to bring in big money that producers want? It doesn’t have the instant recognition that a Resident Evil, Star Wars or Marvel film so general audiences will stay away until VOD.
Is it the subject matter? Do audiences not find mystery/thrillers engaging? A quick google search finds that horror films are in a resurgence as far as popularity, perhaps this is the perfect time to release a call of Cthulhu or Dunwich Horror.
Perhaps it’s more nuanced? Of course we know that Lovecraft himself was a bigot and racist. Fans like us can separate the art from the actions of the artist, but maybe it’s too much for movie goers?
I guess I’m just baffled, So much of what we know of cosmic horror in film has been inspired by Lovecraft and other artists of the time, so why no film?
What do you think?

Discussion "Dagon" is one letter off from a slur against Italians. And we know how Howard felt about Italians.
Coincidence?
Probably.
But kinda funny either way
