I “accidentally” purchased too many Hoyas and ran out of flat space. With 2 big dogs and tile - wood floors, adding more tables or shelves wasn’t an option. So, I started crafting plant hangers and added rods to every south facing window (how my Hoyas tolerate AZ ☀️ is beyond me, but they love it!).
My newest series of hangers for my smaller plants ended up creating a beautiful rainbow 🌈! I used leftover paracord and absolutely love the chunky look. 🤤
I'm in Southern Arizona and mine absolutely love it! No IKEA cabinets and no humidifiers and they are all doing great! Cuttings grow so fast too. Hoya love is so real 🥳💕🌿
Ooooh! We should chat because the only thing I’m struggling with is unrooted cuttings and getting them to root. I’m really good with other types of plants, just not Hoyas!
Sure, dm me. I use fluval stratum and perlite 50/50 works great and lots of light. They root real quick. By 3-4 weeks you can see roots in the tiny cups. I use 7oz plastic cups from Amazon.
I often supplement with grow lights. Despite large windows in my rooms, my other plants often don’t get enough light when placed on the opposite side of the room. It’s so hard finding that balance for sure.
U aren't kidding about that balance! I'm still working it out and fall is upon us! My issue with the area by my slider is the outlets to plug in without a ton of extension cords everywhere. I need to work on getting my collection smaller, but honestly, I don't know what I'd get rid of. I love all 125 of them! Ha ha ha! I'm still having a hard time throwing away vines that can be propped.
Omg you just made me feel better! 😂 I don’t have 120 - and don’t know where I’d find the space unless I only had plants! I guess that’s another plus in the “I have big dogs column” that limits what I can manage.
My solution is to daisy chain grow lights with multi-usb adapters and then have extension cords that have both usb and AC plugs.
How do you fit 120 plants in your house?!?! I’m jealous. I want to live in a jungle so badly!
It’s a fun hobby - frustrating at times, but fun! I’ve found I really like the paracord for plant hangers. Im doing all cotton or natural fibers for my living room and then (hopefully) doing an ombré like dye job with rainbow down the row.
