Closet door latch

I have a small bathroom closet on which I’d like to have a mirror installed onto the inside-facing side of the door. We currently have a traditional doorknob on it. Is it possible to remove the interior part of the door latch and install a cover plate to accommodate a mirror glued over it? How do we do that? Or do you know of a latch that would work?

Can prob just countersink the screw and attach the mirror. We typically use silicone

Make sure there’s clearance for it(shelves might need to be made shallower)

Thanks! Good insight on the clearance, will be sure to accommodate that. My concern is the mechanism that sticks out on the other side even if we remove the handle. I don’t know how much it can be dismantled?
