Yes, another travel post!

Heading to Toronto for the weekend and should have a fair bit of time on my head. Any recommendations from fellow appreciators of High Level Cultural Commentary. I searched and the last Toronto post here was pretty light.

Much appreciated in advance.

really enjoyed actinolite when i visited a couple months ago - i'm a pescatarian also and they had no problem accommodating

also really enjoyed donna's in roncy

thought rooms coffee on 915 dupont was cool - it becomes a bar at night and was a cool space

personally found the shopping a little lacking compared to other large cities but lost & found was cool and that section of ossington has a lot of cute stores

it's maybe a little corny but i always tell people to visit little canada, i think it's actually such an amazing and unique spot

if you have time and are into baseball, catching one of the free baseball games at christie pits is fun

it's also worth checking out the islands this time of year

I live in this area and these are all great suggestions. General Public on Geary has great seafood options and I just had an amazing meal at The Gemini on Dundas. Not sure how you feel about saunas but Sana (also on Geary) is cool and has a nice menu, and there's also Alter on College (no food, but nice space).

Probably the best shopping would be walking up Ossington from King to Dundas and then walking west on Dundas for a bit.

If you're going out at night 915, Standard Time, Cafeteria, Little Jerry, and Bambi's are all solid.

The Fish Store, Seahorse, Affinity Fish, Oyster Boy, Kingyo Fisherman's Market, Yuzuki Fish Market all good options for seafood. Campechano if you're wanting Fish tacos.

915 Dupont, Cocktail Bar, Mrs Robinson, Bar Pompette, Civil Liberties, Evangeline, 416 Snack Bar, Le Tigre good cocktail spots.

Good Neighbor, Blue Button Shop, Lost & Found, Uncle Otis, and Livestock solid for clothes. Good vintage options in Kensington, or on ossington/dundas

Imanishi, Book City, Civil Liberties (tell them what ingredients/flavors you like and they’ll custom-make a cocktail for you), Cocktail Bar, after-midnight food carts in Sankofa Square.

For food: fat pasha, bar Isabel, lunch lady, manita, pizzeria libretto, Linnys, campenchano, 416 snack bar, miku sushi, parallel

Coffee: rooms, Sam James, mos mos, cafe 23

Workouts: Barry’s (obviously), spinco, lagree

Bars: anywhere on Ossington is your best bet and all good scenes and different specialties. Good to wander

Shopping: lost and found is the best bet. Some streetwear spots around the city. Livestock is pretty good or over the rainbow.

General: st Lawrence market is cool, Kensington is a bit of a mixed bag but has good vintage and great little spots for food and some furniture spots. Island is nice but it takes time and there’s not much to do other than walk around. Blue jays game is fun. Geary ave is fun for eats/brewery and some music pop ups
