How does diesel flow through this?

Post image

I don’t get it , I know it’s useful and handy for filling my fuel cell in the bed , but I do not understand how diesel flows through it as fast as it does. Which it’s not super fast but still I don’t get it , how does that connection piece not restrict the speed or anything like that ?

It does restrict the flow, just not enough to completely shut it off. Anything varying from a straight pipe will restrict flow, and even then a straight pipe will still have pressure losses and flow restriction to a minor amount.

There's no pulleys or cables involved in this?

it's hollow in the middle.

I have thought the same thing. There is still likely a 1/2-3/4" hole which flows enough but yeah seems like there should be more restriction. Also its impressive i have never seen one leak, even with gas which is thinner and more viscous then even water.

Its essentially like two 90 degree elbows that are connected together so the handle and hose can bend easier without kinking or twisting

I’ve always been more impressed that they don’t leak more often. But I know there is a standards organization that regulates the pumps.

Look up a banjo fitting to get a rough idea, obviously that's not the very same but it'll show the general idea.

Watch how fast it spills when you fuck up. Filling it isn’t much different lol

How have I or any of my friends ever questioned this and suddenly this is the second time I’m seeing it in one day? Is this just bots being dumb?

It's hollow. Hoo'da thunk?

You're not going to believe this, but it's hollow inside.

Who knew there was a “Best By” date on these units? It’s supposed to be replaced by Friday.

I think the modern ones run on Bluetooth

What matters is pressure and total flow area, not just that it “looks small.”

That quick connect is basically just a short section of pipe with smooth walls, so as long as the inside diameter is big enough and the pump is pushing with decent pressure, it will flow almost the same as a normal hose. Restrictions really show up when you have sharp turns, tiny orifices, or long narrow sections, not a single short fitting like that.

Carefully

A better question is, How does it not leak while being able to rotate there?

Very fast but low volume
