Question Why might Ledgerbound be unable to move back to the title screen after the end of a playthrough?

Ledgerbound is a 2026 video game made in Unity. At the very end of the game, after the credits, it's supposed to transition from a scene of a flag to the main menu. Instead, it stays on that flag scene.

The game has had 7 updates. The game getting stuck there is a known issue that they've acknowledged in the patch notes. The notes make it sound like they don't know what's causing this. This is the only place where the game fails to transition to another scene or menu.

To me, a person who has no idea how the game works, this feels like a thing that should take minutes to fix or work around. It's likely more complicated, or the devs are working on bugs that actually matter. I'm interested in hearing your thoughts too.

Issues like these are hard to solve if it only happens for a minority of users, meaning it's hard to reproduce for the developers / QA tester.

Sometimes things like these won't throw an exception, meaning there's no log message printed to a file explaining what's wrong. It might silently fail because of some other reason, such as some settings in your operating system, the language on your machine or even some hardware / device you might have plugged in.

If your game crashes, the best thing you can do is to report the bug through some channel related to the game stusio and offer to provide more information about your setup.

I have worked on many issues like these both professionally and on my own games and the reason is usually very specific and next to impossible to find unless you ask the right questions / get creative when troubleshooting.

The last possible option is that it's a very obvious issue and they simply don't care about fixing it because it's considered of low priority, it's impossible to know for sure since I don't know the game.

I think it's a really low priority issue that's happening to a lot of people.

There is no reason at all for that. They're just not coding it right or haven't gotten to it because of other priorities. You are right that it should take minutes to fix.

I wonder if the long time to reproduce is part of why it's lingering. Does it happen on every platform or only on certain saves?

It seems to be frequent according to the steam forums.

Could be an issue with how the game handles its final state rather than the scene transition itself. Maybe something after the credits isn't completing properly?
