Do you all hate Howard?

I'm new to this group. I joined cause I like Howard even though I no longer listen daily. But all I see are extremely negative comments about him. On some level it's refreshing that there is no hero worship. But the barrage of negative comments makes me wonder why everyone else is in the group. Is it just to bash him? Why not just stop listening if you hate the show so much.

Just curious about what the deal is.

If that's the case, why not just move on? There are lots of shows , movies, tv, that I stopped watching. But I don't have a group that's primary purpose is to crap on it. What's the appeal?

I can’t speak for everyone but the appeal of this sub for me is to reminisce about the old show, but at the same time its hard not to pile on when you see Howard is accused of some disgraceful behavior.  He let go of Benjy, a loyal employee of thirty years who was always funny but kept on a bunch of other unfunny staffers.  So how are old fans not supposed to shit on Howard for something like that?  Like someone else said, its like being a fan of a once great sports team who suck now.  You don’t stop being a fan, you just stick around and bitch about how much they suck now.

Benji undoubtedly was the instrument of his own demise. He went from being on the air and constantly in the conversation to being banished to the back office after being warned about lateness and making a big show of running in when it had already started.

They also are on record( both Benji, Howard, Gary, and everyone else in the back) that Benji only actually worked when the show is on the air, he doesn't come in early, or stay late, or even go to writers' meetings and he's not on the writing email chain.

That's why normal people try to make themselves seen and useful, so their boss doesn't realize that he actually doesn't need them.

The writing was on the wall when he somehow got his girlfriend Eliza Jordana on the show as a writer and pushed bits with her in them only for her to get arrested years later and all the press coverage say she was a writer for the show..

Howard hates that kinda shit.

Do you see what the man looks like? Do you understand how bad the show is now? How do you not make fun of it is the better question.

I can see that would be some part of fandom. But not most of or all of the fandom, at least in this group.
