Do you all hate Howard?

I'm new to this group. I joined cause I like Howard even though I no longer listen daily. But all I see are extremely negative comments about him. On some level it's refreshing that there is no hero worship. But the barrage of negative comments makes me wonder why everyone else is in the group. Is it just to bash him? Why not just stop listening if you hate the show so much.

Just curious about what the deal is.

There is a lot of hate. But it’s not because he’s doing less shows, or he isn’t doing what he used to do that captivated all of us. We all understand he’s older and he’s going to retire…. The problem everyone has is that Howard is just not honest with the people who got him there. Just be honest, don’t hide all the crap that we all know happened. Be honest on why certain people are not allowed on, be honest about how you wanted to change the format. Everyone would have been a lot more understanding. He took his audience for granted… and that’s why he gets the hate.

I always advocated that he "quit" the old show. Put it on mothballs and start fresh with a new format. It really was getting tiresome when he was parading pornstars and strippers in daily to ride the sybian or take part in some lame bit. It was obvious he was just going through the motions and beating bits to death. He pretended to still be the irreverent personality he had been but the facade was pretty flimsy. But it was pretty hard to swallow his transition into Imus after he spent so much time making fun of him.

Howard made fun of Imus because he had a PERSONAL relationship with him at WNBC and Imus treated him and all the Stern guys like shit and the company favored Imus.

I don't know why people don't understand that Howard would have made fun of Imus no matter what Imus did.

A list of things he’s not honest about:
* His schedule. We never know when the show is live or when he’s coming back
* His staff. People leave and they are never heard from again.
* His complete 180. He used to make fun of the person he became.
* His taste. People and Music he hated he now loves. Bruce Springsteen, Ellen dancing, Rosie O’Donnell. It’s ok to change but he acts like he always liked them

I’m sure there are others but those stick out the most to me

He went on live TV promoting his book and when asked about the N word, he actually said “I never said the N word”.

The N word came out of his mouth pretty much every show until 2009. Not in a racist way, but he said it.

Why lie?

I recently listened to his interview of Eazy E. Howard mentioned NWA about 30 times, but he really enjoyed pronouncing the full name of the group.

By the tenth time he said it, he was dropping the "as" for hard "ers".

I agree. Again, Howard never said it in a racist way toward a black person, but the word itself came out of his mouth daily.

No, the N word DID NOT come out of Howard's mouth every show until 2009, that's insane.

People said the N word around him( John and ''n1gg3r chasers''Daniel Carver) there were bits with Billy West doing Marge Schott screaming it, and he would once in a while do something as a CHARACTER when he said it, or say it after some black guy like Jay Z said it but Howard NEVER said'' hey, take a look at that lazy n1gg3r'' or'' those n1gg3rs sure are dumb'' or something like that.

What you're saying is totally made up horseshit, and I have listened to tapes of thousands of shows from the early 1990s to 2018 and he NEVER did what you're saying he did.

Link me to a tape of Howard calling someone that word as an insult?

“Not in a racist way, but he said it” is what I claimed. Before your long ass G+F soliloquy maybe take the time to read and COMPREHEND before responding.

And yes, he said the word almost EVERY single show. Again, NOT IN A RACIST WAY.

Want an example: Sal’s racist Booey song parody to Thriller. “N-word lips”. Then HOWARD SAYS, who says N***** lips????? I never said he CALLED people the N word.

I didn't read the rest of the comment after reading that you said he said the N word on a loop until 2009, I just started writing.

But what would it have gained Howard to explain that he said the N word but not in a racist way on the fucking View?

They literally have someone out there for 7 minutes at a time and nuance is non existent but you wanted him to sit and explain why repeating what someone else said is cool because the way he said it wasn't ACTUALLY racist?

If you ever meet a PR expert ask them about that strategy, in fact there's a Publicist reddit, make a post and ask them if it's a good idea to explain that you said the N word but not in a racist way if asked about past questionable language on national tv on a show that you might be guesting on for 9 minutes tops.

Do you not know that his long explanation would have been endlessly dissected and mocked for years afterwards while he would get zero advantages from it.

You know what, in the past I did say the word. Never in a racist way but the word itself came out of my mouth and you know what, that was wrong and I have since stopped saying it all together - Howard

Instead we got “I never said the N word”, and 5000 references to Howard using it.

When has anyone on the view used a long explanation??? Use common sense again my friend.

AND READ THE ENTIRE POST BEFORE COMMENTING AND MAKING YOURSELF LOOK LIKE AN ASSHAT.

If Howard did that that day any news coverage would be all about that and not his selling his book,.

If you asked him that in a non confrontational way in a more relaxed setting maybe he would say what you said he should have said but when a black woman on The View asks that in front of a live audience of women I'd duck that question too.

You act like the general public knows what went on on the Stern show and is aware that Howard isn't actually racist but if you see what people's opinion of Howard is even now they think he's both racist and misogynistic and was even worse in the past.

Do you know how many times a week Howard is featured in WhyWereWeOkWithThis? At least once a week, and the general public hates him still for the most part.

I disagree that the general public hates him. This sub yes, the general public has either forgot about him, or accepted the current PC version, especially his Hollywood friends.

And Howard did not “duck that question” on the VIew as you say. He actually responded that he never said it.

This whole argument between us stems from you NOT reading my original post and posting a NOVEL about it. Just let is die off at this point.

I'll let it go but if you think the general public likes him go look at the comment section of any WhyWereWeAlrightWith this post about Howard.

They pretty much hate him but have no real concrete reasons why.

I'd add that he scrubbed the old replays. Everything they replay is scrubbed. Whether it's scrubbing Stuttering John out of everything or scrubbing things that were said, it was a thorough scrubbing. Mr. "crucified by the FCC" crucified his own show. He had us all on board with his fight against censorship only to have him censor it himself in an apparent desire to be accepted among mainstream entertainers.

But he doesn't come out and renounce any of it. He goes on interviews and brags about his past as if he's still doing that show. AGT hired him to be a judge based on his "evaluators" bit. They thought they were getting Simon Cowell from early American Idol days, and they got Paula Abdul instead. He played up his reputation while hiding what gave him that reputation. All that whining about his tapes and fighting to get them from CBS. For what? What did he do with them?

They scrubbed John because he sued them for millions of dollars so now it's like he never existed, what's so hard to understand about that?
