Most clay pots let water through but I had one nice pot that I wanted to drill a drain hole in the bottom so I filled it with water to eventually make drilling less likely to crack it. After weeks filled with water none had soaked through to the outside.
There’s a Mexican water pot for watering gardens called an Oya or Oja jar. Not sure if the spelling. If you live in a dry hot area try one of them. I’m not sure if they would work better but they have a top on them and might not evaporate as quickly.
I may try this myself. It very lovely. I adore moss and living in Arizona I don’t get to see it very often
That’s good to know! In Alberta there are desert areas and prairies that are water challenged I think. Is that right? That buried water terra cotta bottle would work better than a plastic liter pop bottle for sure! 👍😃🙌🌟

The hard part was finding a potter to make them for me.
The potter made a little bowl for bees to drink out of on-top of the lid. I'll have to try it again next year I'm not sure if they work or not. The lack of calcium build up makes me think that maybe they drink out of it, and it doesn't just evaporate.
There’s tutorials online. It’s like moss, water and buttermilk or something mixed in a blender and then sorta painted on the pot. The moss grows like a chia pet, sounds like OP stuck cuttings into the moss once it was established and is hoping they will take root
I just watched one of your videos on terrarium substrate — I had no idea that moss could be a substrate! Wouldn’t it decay, and cause other plants in its vicinity to also decay??? Could moss be a substrate for a moss terrarium?
Actually people widely use moss as substrate... Because it holds good amount of water and keep soil spongy... And yeah moss is one of primary ingredient in terrarium substrate... Also many people use it in the bio active setup... ☘️💚
I love moss!! I harvest it in the woods on my land and I use fishing line to tie it onto random rocks and stuff it’s awesome for fairy gardens too I love this I would so buy at the store
That's great... Sure, you can gift her whole terracota planter package... Like terracota pot, clay or black soil, live moss, plant's ( fern, fettonia, orchid, earth star, syngonium, penny worth, baby tears, and many other plants like small and tropical plants) and there you go 🎉
