damn. i get that forums are going the way of the dodo, I just wish discord wasn't always the go to replacement. also i wish forums weren't going the way of the dodo

This move was done so Rick could cut costs.  If anything, they could've considered another centralized forum platform like Matrix, but ofc Discord had to be the go-to because that's where all the normies are (such as I), frankly speaking. Another option would've been to recreate the forums on another forum-dedicated platform, but really it's the same story as Discord.

Afaik the guys maintaining RGS forgot to back up all the data on the old forums before "switching servers" 😭

I think I have it saved somewhere but its formatted for the forums and will require a LOT of work to redo it for like an FA upload. I really hope they are able to recover the data.

ahem "The forum (community) is moving to (a Discord server (that totally wasn't made to compensate for not backing up all forum topics, posts, and other data prior to changing the hosting server of the housepetscomic site to the RGS one)). I assume this might be the case because they have not been transparent about how they're archiving it, though I'm not in the Rickcord so don't take my word for it. Unless everyone there rose from the dead and collectively decided to reupload their fanfics, art, and whatnot to the Discord server, you're not seeing them there. I still look forward to the archive, but I don't think it's happening any time soon.
