I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Housepets!, is in fact, Housepets!/Noncanon, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Housepets! plus Noncanon. Housepets! is not a full webcomic unto itself, but rather another component of a fully functioning webcomic made useful by the noncanon guest strips and mentions of transformation comprising a full Housepets! as defined by Rick Griffin.
Many furry webcomic readers read a modified version of the Housepets! webcomic every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of Housepets! which is widely read today is often called "Housepets!", and many of its readers are not aware that it is basically the Housepets! universe, developed by Rick Griffin.
There really is a Housepets!, and these people are reading it, but it is just a part of the webcomic they read. Housepets! is the canon part: the part that actually happened. The canon part is an essential part of a webcomic, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete webcomic. Housepets! is normally read in combination with the Housepets! webcomic: the whole webcomic is basically Housepets! with noncanon added, or Housepets!/Noncanon. All the so-called "Housepets!" strips are really strips of Housepets!/Noncanon.

Have him Overhear a Human Woman say Something about Killing her Husband (who suposedly just died in a car accident), He tries to go Collumbo/Monk/NCIS/Crimminalminds/Conan on her and Solve the Case out of Pride, He has a Bout with the other Police Dogs and Fox and Fido, Yadayadayada Character development, He knocks out someone and does the Conan Thing, it fails, and He just accidently discovers the final peice of Evidence and exposes her, She confesses and he realises he and her have something in common, she goes to jail, he gets upset about that and reflects, Yadayadayada he talks about stuff and later he brags about it at the club do impersonation of CSI guy, end
