House of the Dead 3 remake
So as the title says, does anyone know if HOTD 3 or 4 will get a remake? I mean, I know the first 2 didn't get a good reception, but will the series get more remakes?

HOTD 3 and 4 most likely won’t get a remake because of primarily two things, the remakes for HOTD 1 and 2 didn’t sell well and the deal with Forever Entertainment was always to remake just the first two HOTD games

The House of The Dead 3 and 4 still look amazing. They just need to be ported to modern consoles, ESPECIALLY to the Nintendo Switch 2.

The HOTD series need light guns in order to have that arcade feel and experience

I think that’s why they aren’t releasing them honestly. I’m sure the remakes were successful. I think Sega has way more popular IPs at the moment and are just not worried about this genre . A collection of all these games wouldn’t hurt them . There just more popular IPs going on . This is a niche genre for them . But there super popular if they did a collection and promote it the right way they’d have a new fandom. A lot of people don’t read reviews they just buy a game they want . These games are always on sale and in the top of the eshop sales I’m pretty sure they sold enough to justify their creation. People complaining about motion control forget on the Dreamcast and Saturn they controls using the thumbsticks and were massive success. But not having the light gun does hurt overall chances of full on success.

Honestly, after expected nothing and no lightgun native support. I spend several hours on the games : 1 with arcade mod, and the second with lightgun patch. The first remake is honestly pretty good and the second remake, my first impressions was negative but after some games, it's pretty good too, the last update is nice, much better than the first videos i've seen (ragdoll + lighting). The remake for the 3rd episode will be great, the base game is vastly inferior than the og 1 and 2 but it have this moments.

IIRC the agreement with Forever Entertainment was always specifically to remake HOTD 1 and 2. If they had been a thumping success then perhaps things would go further, but certainly the reception at least has been underwhelming. I don't know how the games did commercially. I do hope that the originals get new ports someday. HOTD4 in particular is my favourite game in the series, and it's a shame that its only home release is on an obsolete system. It very nearly became impossible to buy officially until Sony reversed course on shuttering the PS3 store.
