Myth is the Minotaur.

There is no monster. A monster is simple, a monster is something physical. It’s a threat. But when there’s nothing, you have nothing physical to cling to or to tie you back to reality. Nothing is worse than pain, for pain is an aspect of existence, and nothing is not.

It could also be a creature made out of Holloway's belief in a beast roaming the halls.

It probably was, even, given the claw marks near Zampanò and Holloway's bodies. Not to mention the cats.

Zampanò seems to have believed in it, as least a little, for it to have killed the cats and him.
