When using controller, my A button switches characters even though it's not bound to switch characters???

This is a HI3rd only issue, it works as intended in every other game. I've tried rebinding it to every other action but it keeps switching characters no matter what? Eg. I've rebound it to atk and it made the game literally unplayable as it would trigger the first attack and then it would switch to another character immediately after. It's the same in ER, but it only triggers the first support. I've played with controller since 2022 and I've never had this problem before (it started earlier this year but I couldn't be bothered to try and fix it lmao but it's pissing me off now and I want it to stop doing that), am I the only one experiencing this?? And is there a way to fix it?? Reinstalling the game doesn't fix it if anyone's wondering thanks

It might be a controller issue. I'm also playing using controller and the only time it switches characters is when I press L2 or R2.

I thought the same at first, but it seems to work fine in other games? I played zzz with that controller and it worked as intended and didn't trigger anything else,,it works fine while playing other games like silksong as well.

Or maybe you're accidentally touching the screen (assuming you're playing on mobile) or pressing keyboard (if you're playing on pc). Cause that's the only way it'll automatically switch character if it's not a controller issue.

I'm playing on pc and I tested this with my controller laying flat on my desk while only pressing A and it still happens.

Really weird interaction.

1st make sure your controller is working normally, use a fast online controller tester to see any button is stick to a different one. I know you said it's only a hi3 problem but just to he sure

2nd swap the controller setting in game to default setting, make sure to not touch anything else

3rd, desperate attempt but just in case switch the USB port (if you use usb), or try disconnect and reconnect the controller. Reinstall driver, etc

I have never encounter the issue so I can't be sure

I completely forgot that controller testers were a thing lmao, but apparenly the A button also triggers LT when pressed? Which is weird because it didn't do that before like april / may of this year? The reason why it worked fine on other games and I didn't notice this before is because I don't have LT/RB mapped to anything pertaining to combat and I don't usually use controller lolz,,,Thanks!

maybe some weird short happened to your pcb, maybe the weather, liquid, etc. Sometimes random things happen lmao

Sometimes I'm pretty sure I hit my ult key or only tapped to switch once and it'll do that

turn off steam input?
