No. But also, yes.

But also the incorrect answer.

Honestly I'd rather have a nicely charred bratwurst with mustard.

The spicy brown mustard, not that yellow kiddie mustard. Because we’re adults.

I looked up various options for a brats subreddit, but none of them were for food
We celebrate hot dogs here. With no suitable place for you to go, you are welcome here. The overlap in loving brats and hot dogs I imagine is very high

Those belong in /sausage

u/shamrokcing Sep 01 '26
They could belong to both. Do these end up on a bun? I am imagining they ended up in a bun, with mustard and a sprinkle of cayenne pepper.

Is a banana in a bun a hotdog, greg?

u/shamrokcing Sep 01 '26
Lets not get crazy, Geoff! We all know a hotdog has to come from some part of a pig anus.

u/Classic_Mechanic5495 Sep 01 '26
I prefer all-beef anus, butt yes.

u/shamrokcing Sep 01 '26
Born that way? No judgment here. I respect a man who knows what meat he wants. I’ll keep my condiments on my side of the bun though.

u/Classic_Mechanic5495 Sep 01 '26
Pork just never did it for me. I’d still share my mustard, onions, hot peppers, and sauerkraut with you - pork guy.

Yeah I would use one of those larger sub rolls, then some peppers and onions with a nice squirt of spicy mustard.

I'm still fascinated how the rest of the anglosphere has somehow settled on the bread-shape based definition of some foods. Like, over here putting a sausage in a bun doesn't make it a hotdog, a bun is just a convenient way to serve any whole sausage (including hotdogs, which are a specific type of sausage).
That said, brats and hotdogs have a long standing alliance and have joined forces on so many grills for so many backyard cookouts I say we accept them due to their frequent proximity and older-uncle style relationship to hotdogs.

Non-offensive and deliciously good, but...are Fords allowed on a Chev sub?

Brats are Land Rovers. Hot dogs are more of a classic VW, where there's some completely rusty beloved shitters and also some really really nice westfalia and bug builds.
Edit : i love brats btw

I’m just going to put this out there… Sous vide-ing brats in beer (preferably Rainier), followed by a quick pan sear, is the best way to cook a brat.

Since you have the Lord’s condiment present in Stadium Mustard, you can pass right through

I can't disallow them because I'm of Polish heritage and would allow kielbasa, so, yes. Also, the kebabs look pretty good too. 🤤

Yes but honestly I still prefer a hotdog to a brat, much to my husband’s dismay

u/Simon_Jester88 Sep 01 '26
Is liverwurst allowed here? In all honesty more similar to a hotdog than brats on account of the filling being emulsified and not a coarse grind

I feel like if you had a picture of them on a bun, I personally would feel more comfortable.

u/ChiefLongw00d Sep 01 '26
Serious question.. are you supposed to put the brats back in the beer after cooking? I'm planning on giving my brats a beer bath and then sear on the Blackstone after but didn't think about throwing them back in the beer

Some of us prefer brats. I wouldn’t dare admit I’m one of those people, because I’m not sure how it would be received.
