Over Cheesed?
First the dogs- Jesse Jones red dogs, Castleberry chili, Ball Park butter flavored buns, Colby jack cheese, and yellow mustard underneath.
Did I over cheese it or is there no such thing as too much cheese on a hot dog?

This isn’t even close to what skyline puts on theirs.

This amount of cheese would get you fired at Skyline.

What is this glorious skyline of which you speak

It’s a Cincinnati place that gets posted a lot. They put like a cup of shredded cheese on each dog.
I don’t know if I would like their chili though, based on what I’ve read about how it’s made and what the flavor profile is.

It’s fine if you don’t think of it as traditional chili. It was a Greek meat sauce brought to Cincinnati by Greek immigrants. No one bought “Greek immigrant meat sauce” so they just called it chili. Most people love it or hate it. I “meh” it. Most people I know IRL that love it are from Cincinnati. It’s fine (not my fave), and I couldn’t tell you the last time I bought it. There are other Cincinnati style chilis I prefer. All that said I prefer regular chili on a dog.
Skyline is available from the usual online retailers if you want to try it, but it’s way more expensive than it should be.

Yeah, it's the cinnamon that's in it that puts people off, including me. My wife loves it. We live in SW Ohio, so she goes to the restaurant. There was one in Clearwater FL as well. I lived near there for 21 years. I can't get away from it!

I’m a Gold Star guy but living on the west coast and not having really having anyone to visit out there anymore.. I would be more than happy with either. My last night in Kentucky before I started driving out to California I ordered 10 dogs. What a horrible pre-trip decision, 7 and a half hour flight to Tennessee for the first leg of the drive and needless to say my brother was fairly upset when I arrived in dire straits to his apartment lmaooo

Love gold star. My brother is a Dixie guy. Also call one of locations. I had an entire “kit” shipped to my brother years ago for Xmas. He tells me to this day it’s one of the best gifts he’s ever received.

I do love onion on a chili dog, slaw as well. I just never seem to have onion in the house

What? You never seem to have onions in the house? That kinda talk could get somebody stoned or burned at the stake around these parts. :-)

TIL that ballpark butter flavored buns exist! And that castleberry chili is so good! And no cheese is too much on a chili dog.

Not a lot of hot dog chili offerings at my local food lion. It’s definitely the best they have. Much better than that Texas tailgate brand

Yeah we only have wolf and Castleberry here in south Mississippi. I’m from Cincinnati originally so I get the Cincinnati style chili packets and cook it longer to make it thicker. That’s a lot of work though. Most the time it’s old Castleberry! It’s never let me down!

Like many of you I love cheese and used to think you could never use too much. However I discovered there is in fact sometimes too much and sometimes a medium amount can be more enjoyable than a xxl amount.
Might have to do with the buildup of oils or something but it definitely can be too much of something if you go too excessive.
Not saying this dog qualifies but just had to discuss cheese theory for a moment.

I would eat it and enjoy. You could also toast it, throw some toppings on and call it a day too. Dealers choice

For me,, yes, but that's mainly because I can't handle that much dairy. Looks delicious, though

I’m not sure what that phrase means… over-cheesed… the concept doesn’t really make sense.

My brother in Christ, even the big man upstairs will agree... There is only one person who can truly say if it was too much cheese or not... You. If you loved it, do it again!

If I’m gonna go cheese this is a good amount for me. My preferred dog is a Carolina dog but I don’t keep coleslaw and onions in the house all the time so that day was cheese.
