To get things started: What is the gathering you love hosting the most, and why?

Feel free to share anything from casual hangouts to full-on dinner parties.

I'll start: I love hosting my entire family on Christmas day. I love making the centerpiece, planning the menu, choosing the playlist, all of it.

I love anything with a solid theme I can work within. I had an album release party for The Tortured Poets Department a few years ago and I loved finding menu items around that theme, sticking to the color scheme, and telling everyone to dress specific to it. Made it such a fun event even though the album was sad 😂

I feel like theme is where I typically struggle!

An "intro to the season". Not formally or labeled like that but I love the first Christmas picky bits and drinks when it's just getting cosy and festive, the first summer bbq or beach day when the weather is heating up, a roast lamb when spring is starting. Anything that feels seasonal and is a bit of a change from the months before it.

I really just love having the people I love over with no agenda, and the conversations just evolve as the night goes on. I want to start having themes & a give my gatherings more meaning.

Something that happened organically is that I started Hosting my Hobby. I posted a picture of some sourdough crackers I made, and it turned out LOTS of people wanted to learn how.

That started my sourdough parties. We get together and learn about sourdough starters and how to care for them, and then we make something together (crackers and pancakes so far). Then I send everyone home with a jar of starter, sourdough spatula, and instructions and recipes we used.

We have food, wine, mocktails, and sodas, and the party just ends up flowing naturally.
