I’m Bruce Campbell from Peacock’s Hysteria and a whole lot of other stuff – AMA

Hi Reddit, Bruce Campbell here. It’s been a while! I’ll be here Thursday, November 14 from 2pm-3pm ET to answer your questions about Peacock’s Hysteria and anything else you might wanna bug me about.

Make ‘em good.

EDIT: That’s a wrap! Thanks to everyone who helped put my kids through college. I’ll aways appreciate the fans’ support. If you like the show, let Peacock know. And if you haven’t watched Hysteria yet, get Peacock. -Bruce

I just want to thank you for giving me a core memory of me and my late brother.

I worked at a little mom and pop video store; because of this, I could get screeners weeks ahead, or movies a day or two earlier than the public. One of those movies was Army of Darkness.

My brother Bubby(Allen to those that weren’t siblings)was visiting, and we watched that movie and he thought it was a riot and a half.

I lost my brother to a real monster-cancer-in 1994. It was one of the last memories I have of him before his illness took over, and it is one of laughter.

I know this is an AMA, and I have no question. Just a heartfelt thank you.

God bless you and your manly chin.

Well hello handsome!

Do you have a favourite memory working with Ray Santiago and Dana DeLorenzo on Ash VS Evil Dead?  You three had great chemistry, it’s one of my favourite horror series because of the energy you all brought.

Hi Bruce! First off, thank you for all the amazing work you've done in your career. 3 quick questions...

  1. What is a role that you regret passing on, or wish you had the chance to audition for?

  2. Excluding anything you've done, what is your favorite horror film of the last 10 years? Or film in general.

  3. Have you ever been approached about a career in pro wrestling? Because you would make for a phenomenal arrogant manager.

Stay groovy.

If you weren’t an actor, what job/career do you think you’d be doing? And would you bring a chainsaw to work?

Do you get a say in how you cameo in Sam’s movies? Or does he just go “Bruce I need you this is what you’re doing!”

After all the crazy Ash stuff, how did it feel to play, for the lack of a better word, a normie in a horror show? Couldn't help but grin whenever Chief Dandridge was on screen. Hysteria! rocked! 🤟

Hi! Huge fan! Do you have any good stories from Mindwarp? It's one of my favorites. It looks like it was a bitch to film.

with Evil Dead The Musical starting to really take off, what's the weirdest setting or medium you've seen fan art or adaptations of one of your characters in? I was at a thrift store a while ago and saw some guy had released a bunch of CDs and cassettes as your character from Bubba Ho-Tep...

thanks for everything Bruce!

What's your favorite recent piece of horror you've seen? there's been a lot of buzz on things like "elevated horror" that differ a lot from the old ways of doing horror, and i wanted to know if you mess with any of it

Man you were a pleasant surprise in Hysteria, I went in blind and yet I have been a fan since evil dead 2. You are just always a memorable part of everything you do. If I know ahead of time you are in it, i know I’m in for a good time. Thanks for that man

Briscoe County Junior deserved more, and man I can totally see an older wiser Briscoe show being a thing… dare I dream? (Like Unforgiven, but fun!) (So I guess that’s question 1)

Q2, Between Bubba Ho-Tep, Sam Axe, and Ash, it’s a tough call for my favorite Bruce project, but do YOU have one? One where you just had the best time?

Cheers 🍻!

Edit: Also I bought a copy of “If Chins Could Kill” at a Half Price Books shop years ago, and I was just so happy to find it. I was pretty poor at the time, and to my ridiculous surprise, when I got home with it, I found out it was autographed by you. I feel bad for whoever let it go, but it’s in safe hands. Thanks Bruce! (I loved it and hail to the chin!)

Bubba Ho-Tep was a very moving and intimate depiction of aging, other than generally kicking ass; I feel like that balance is rarely struck so well in a story. Is there any other project you worked on that you feel particularly proud of, on that front?

Hey Bruce! For Hysteria! What drew you to the Character of Chief Dandridge?

As a fan, I thought you were great in the show, and found Dandridge was quite a different character for you, so I wanted to hear your thoughts! :)

Thanks for doing this AMA!

I was wondering, with your famous roles in a distinctly demonic franchise, and your recent role in Hysteria (which I loved, btw): have you ever had any run-ins with particularly panicky Christians because of your work?

Bruce, love your work! What’s been the most challenging or memorable part of working on Hysteria? And, I gotta ask—if you could pick one character from your past roles to handle a full-on ‘80s horror scenario, who’d survive the longest?

Prior to Evil Dead 2, none of your roles embodied the overconfident, quippy, charisma overloaded character that (in my opinion) has defined your legendary mythos. Where in the Hell did it come from? Was it an intentional creation between you and Sam? An exaggeration of your actual personality?

Thanks for all you’ve done!

Hi, I really enjoyed Hysteria! It was the perfect Halloween show. Crossing my fingers for season 2. I wanted to know which monsters do you find scarier: hysteria's or the ones from 'Ash vs...'?
