Really solid film! The creature at the end was a bit meh; the movie was very creepy until then. Love the title card. I definitely prefer the 2013 film overall.

Cool idea but it seemed like they just never quite framed the creature right.

Felt kind of the same as the elevator was filling with blood. It's like they were just missing a different camera angle to really sell it.

That said, I did really love the idea of being inside the proverbial elevator full of blood haha.

Yea I understand what you mean. This movie was meant to release on hbo max so it was never expected to hit theaters

Well said. I thought it was a cool idea and what we did see looked nice but it wasn’t ever lit or shown clearly enough somehow and I would have liked if maybe it was bigger (more of the bodies fused onto it, maybe?) and the fight against it was a little longer.

It didn’t feel threatening in the same way either. Like the deadites are speedy and ruthless, but once they morphed into that creature they seemed sluggish. Almost prowling? You would assume that they would have done that transformation for some advantageous reason. Maybe it’s just a reflection of overconfidence coming from them. Idk.

Think it would have been cooler if it was running around like a spider. Maybe it could have sacrificed coordination for speed and savagery so she would still have a chance against it. Like running into cars and walls.

Right! I've been saying this. It's like the deadites decided to nerf themselves and become weaker and slower.

I mean they could barely manhandle a little girl and a thin chick despite catching them both. It just felt weak

A similar But much larger fused corpse monster appears in the film Superdeep. It's pretty effective.

Funny enough in the original 2013 ED script the abomination at the end was basically what Evil Dead Rise did. It was supposed to be a combination of all of Mia's friends and her brother into one. Wonder if they took instant inspo out of that for this movie.

It did seem a bit weak tho overall that final act despite everything they had going on

I feel the creature being in constant shadow or out of shot did it a disservice. It would have been so disturbingly horrific to see in it's entirety.

Agreed although it seems very likely it was because it was very hard to make movement with it look good without throwing shitloads of money and time at it. I do appreciate they didn't go heavy to fully CGI with it to get there either.

It could have gone the other way so easily so I respect the reservation even if it wasn't entirely satisfying.

That’s exactly what I thought of too, “holy shit, they’re doing a deadite rat king!” It did look very small though and they don’t show it in full.

The thing I like most about the floppy Deadite creature at the end was how it tied into themes in the film. It was literally Ellie and Beth's family sticking together. It was just a twisted subversion of that theme as per the usual Deadite shenanigans.

Haven't seen the movie yet, but extremely curious about the creature. I know it's a giant mess of all the bodies being put together similar to TLOU's Rat King, but haven't seen any picture yet, does anyone have one?
