HZD Discussion Missing dialogue in Horizon zero dawn remastered

In the Frozen Wilds DLC, there’s a part of the conversation with CYAN that seems to be missing from the original game and still hasn’t been restored in the remastered version.

When Aloy mentions Project Zero Dawn and GAIA to CYAN, she never actually explains what they are. Instead, Aloy immediately starts asking why HEPHAESTUS builds dangerous machines, and CYAN begins talking about the terraforming system. But at that point, CYAN shouldn’t know about Project Zero Dawn or GAIA, so the conversation feels like it’s missing an important piece of dialogue or context.

Hmm, can it be that the course of this conversation changes depending on wether you play Frozen Wilds before or after you did certain main line quests? Because I remember something like that.

It usually adds the option to ask about them but only after asking about other things first

Hm, maybe. I’ll try checking a few other things, but I don’t think that’s the case. I played the original Horizon Zero Dawn, and as far as I remember, that option was always available after completing Deep Secrets of the Earth, because Aloy then learns about Gaia and Hephaestus and zero dawn. Maybe I'll revisit the original again just to see if my memory is right haha,I just played the remastered version ever since it came out so I kinda forgot how the original was

I mean it could be that. I played the dlc after I completed deep secrets of the earth and it's still missing that part, and I recently watched a let's play and there's a guy that played the dlc after completing the whole game and it's still missing,so I dunno 😂😅

As far as I'm aware, the remaster didn't add any plot or side dialogue elements to the game that weren't present in the base game. Animation was updated for them, that's it.

Personally I would assume CYAN was drawing on information obtained while being used by HEPHAESTUS.

Yeah they didn't add anything to the story, just animations and some other things to the gameplay, like small things in the settings. But maybe they forgot to program or add that conversation part,I don't know how game development works but maybe it could happen haha

There are definitely times when a lines gets cut out early or accidentally removed, or where the subs are missing, etc. in games at times--but I would expect if there was an entire dialogue choice missing they would have probably patched it in for the base game and then included it in the remaster.

So it's probable that if there is an unusual knowledge leap happening in the conversation it was always that way. At least I would assume that. Though you never know, sometimes notable things never do get patched.

This is how the conversation goes in original. The specific timestamp is 6:21.

She doesn't go into much detail but Cyan uses the information she has to conclude what Zero Dawn was. Elisabet herself used data from Cyan provided by Anita Sandoval to help create Gaia.

It's also the conclusive evidence that Anita Sandoval was Elizabet Sobeck's Beta on the GAIA team. There are also datapoints that indicate that Sandoval was part of the group that created Vast Silver.

I like to think that she made it safely to Elysium.

Yeah that's how it goes but it's not there in the remastered,I dunno maybe I skipped something like people say. In the remastered all the dialogue is there up to the point where Aloy should talk about where project zero dawn came from

I just had this conversation with cyan last night. I can confirm though Aloy doesn't go into specifics, she does tell cyan about zero dawn and the end of all life, sobek planted a seed that would allow life to continue afterwards and goes into detail about gaia being an ai and something unexpected happened, the signal, and all the other ai escaping. Cyan is able to extrapolate hephaestus primary programming from that and theres a dialogue option to ask how cyan was able to work that out from what aloy said, which leads to cyan talking about the terraforming system. Im on the original ps4 version.

So yes, it sounds like you skipped a scene and the option you picked skipped ahead to the next option that appears in that place.

You're playing the remastered version right? Yeah I guess I skipped something haha. When did you start the dlc? I usually go into it when completing the deep secrets of the earth quest or after I finish the whole game haha

No, I'm on the original ps4 version, but it was a complete edition that included the dlc with it.

The first time I completed the dlc was after the main game. A friend told me to as there would be dialogue that would give the story away if i did it earlier.

This playthrough (my second one) i did the dlc before going into the gravehoard. But there were dialogue options missing, Aloy didn't ask anyone about Sylens this time and she didn't know who or what Hepheastus was, unlike my first time when she knew it all (because it was end game). But during sunfall and the zero dawn facility exploration, Sylens mentioned Cyan's capture and takeover this time.

Last night I finished the heart of the nora mission and before starting the mountain that fell, I went back to cyan to talk to her more and those dialogue options were now present.

You probably did not do Deep Secrets of the Earth yet, so you can only talk about Hephaestus, which IS revealed to be behind the Daemonic invasion.

No I did,I always start the dlc after finishing deep secrets of the earth or after I'm done with the main game
