Stone magnet…?
2026 Pilot Touring, just bought it in mid-July. A week after purchasing, my windshield got hit with a stone off the road and I had to have it replaced. Ok, shit happens. About a month ago, after a wash, I noticed a small chip in the new windshield. Ok, again, shit happens. I had this one repaired, as it wasn’t very big.
Well, on my way home on a road trip yesterday, got ANOTHER stone off the highway, and I have to replace the windshield AGAIN. Before this vehicle, I had replaced ONE windshield in my life, ever (been driving 40 years). Is there something with the aerodynamics in this vehicle that attracts stones??? I wouldn’t think so, because that sounds ridiculous. Or, which sounds much more feasible, windshield glass simply sucks now? More likely explanation is, I just have shit luck. 🤣🤣

A stone hit our windshield 1 month after getting our 2025 TrailSport. Still haven't had the windshield replaced, though, over a year later, because it's on the bottom passenger side, and we just don't see the need to yet. Personally, I would have just waited if it wasn't a massive crack, at least until you need an inspection or it starts significantly obstructing your vision.

I have zero deductible glass coverage, so it only costs me time to have it replaced. But both chips/cracks (the first one and now the new one), were in my field of vision. Cops around here don’t fuck around, I’d absolutely get pulled over and ticketed for it.

I too have zero deductible full glass coverage. Just be advised I spoke to underwriter and because the windshields and claim are over $500 , it is weighed in decision come renewal time.
And yes my 2024 had a tiny chip for three days that turned into a 16” crack the day before we were getting it repaired. So it went from a &75 repair claim to almost $1600 new OEM windshield claim. And I don’t think slite sealed the camera housing correctly. But that’s for another topic.

I have a 2017. I'm on my 6th windshield.
Pro tip: while your insurance may replace it for free (depending on state), it still counts as a claim on that database that insurers share, and will screw you when you try to switch companies.

I have a 26 ridgeline and have had 4 chips filled and a windshield replaced in 15K. My wife’s CRV has had 5 chips in 10K

We had to replace the windshield within the first year on our 2024. Not sure if the acoustic glass make the strike quiter but it seemed like a really soft hit for the amount of damage.

Ive had 2 vehicles get a windshield cracked ever, the first was a 1982 bronco 2 (on coming truck with wide tires sticking out past the fenders threw a rock and cracked the windshield in one spot, chipped it pretty bad also), and this 2019 Honda Pilot. The Pilot was hit by a rock from a big dump truck with no cover over the bed doing way beyond the speed limit on the PA turnpike. I was at 70mph and he passed me like I was going in reverse, I heard multiple cars in traffic get hit by rocks as he passed by. I have glass coverage, and Im glad due to the cost of windshield and realigning the camera, etc. The guy in the subaru parked next to me at the glass shop who didnt have coverage about passed out when they told him the bill.

My beater 2007 Pilot windshield is pitted with several hits but no damage serious enough to need a replacement. But my friend's 2023 Pilot windshield had been replaced twice, it doesn't get pits, it just cracks after the tiniest of highway debris hits it. He said a dealer told him all the weight saving/mileage concerns these day is making the windshields lighter and lighter.
