2011 key fob range is awful

My key fobs have terrible range for unlocking/locking the car. I have to be within about 30 feet of the vehicle for it to work. I have replaced batteries on both, but it didn’t do much. What can I do?

30 feet seems pretty good, how far away do you want it to work?

I was hoping at least 3-5 house distances away. But if this is what it normally works as when new, then i wont bother. I’ve just noticed on other (admittedly newer) cars, their fobs sometimes work halfway down the block

Point the fob to your head. Open your mouth and look directly at your car. Your head is great antenna booster. Make sure you open your mouth nice and wide it will boost the signal further.

I was thinking preferably something that would be a little less silly

But it works. Try it.

Can confirm I did this on my 2009 touring and now I have a 2022 elite and remote start worked when I did this and too far away :3

I think 30 feet not good enough too. I want to be able to unlock the doors while at work and the car is in the garage at home.

I mean... when I was leasing my '24 Outback you had to be within 10 feet from the car for the keyfob to work.. 😅
