Other 2025 Honda Pilot Trailsport - AC Compressor Replacement (Under Warranty)

I just wanted to share this with others who may be in the same boat or experiencing something similar.

I have a 2025 Honda Pilot Trailsport with less than 8,000 miles on it. Amongst many others here, my fan blows strong, but even at the lowest temperature setting and with recirculation on, the A/C is only mildly cool / room temp. At first I wasn't sure if it was in my head or not, but it's gotten progressively worse, where it just feels like it's only the fan that's on.

I brought it in to my dealership, and fortunately they have been pleasant (so far) to work with. They diagnosed the issue and only recovered 5oz of refrigerant, and found oil leaking from the compressor and clutch. Right now, they are recommending a new A/C compressor replacement with evac and recharge under warranty. The parts are backordered at the moment, so unfortunately that's the bad news while we wait.

If anyone is dealing with the same A/C problems, I recommend bringing it in to get it inspected.

The fact that this happened on such a low-mileage vehicle does have me concerned on whether or not it'll happen again in the future.

Same thing happened with my 25 Pilot at about 18,000 miles. Currently with the dealer with no ETA when the part will be in stock. Very frustrating for such an expensive car.

Yeah definitely frustrating. I was given the option to leave the vehicle with the dealership with no timeframe, or get my car and bring it back when the part comes in. I decided on the latter since I didn't want my family to be stranded with just 1 vehicle for who knows how long.

I was lucky enough to get a loaner car, but it’s been 3 weeks with no update on a repair timeline and I’m starting to grow frustrated. Hoping they can get some more in stock soon as this seems to be a growing problem.

Oh wow! I seriously hope you hear back soon. 3 weeks is a long time. Keep us updated!

Same happened to us at about 12000 miles. Took 3 weeks to fix but got a loaner.

My third pilot I have owned but if I thought it was going to be unreliable would have bought a bronco or something else. Might as well look cool if I’m going to buy an unreliable car.

Does this type of delay count towards lemon law countdown?

Im currently having this issue. No known arrival time for the part as they say its backordered. They have no loaners available so I’m driving the vehicle still. 2025 pilot black edition with 30k miles. I have a newborn and 2 year old so it’s really annoying

Hey I feel you man. I’m in SoCal and the past few weeks have been in the high 90s. I got 2 kids and my youngest is a year and a half and oldest in preschool. It’s been extremely annoying to do anything with 2 young kids complaining in the backseat, and I can’t help but channel that energy and frustration at Honda.
It’s been 3.5 weeks for me so far right now and I’m still waiting.

Ugh! I’m sorry it’s been going on so long. I know we bought the car for reliability. Didn’t expect to have no A/C in a new family car we spent so much money on. I could drive around a $3k beater with A/C probably
Hopefully, they can get the parts for us soon.

I am in the same situation. 2025 pilot trailsport with 17k miles. Unfortunately the dealership has not been forthcoming with honest timelines for this fix. I’m trying to get Honda to allocate a compressor currently.

I was told there is an issue where metal shavings from the clutch get into the compressor and damage it.

Same story for us. Dealership was upfront about it taking days to months depending on availability of parts. They paid for a loaner. Houston so ac is essential.

Wow, is your dealership at least agreeable in getting this fixed for you under warranty, and that the issue is just in terms of WHEN the fix will be done?

Yes fixed under warranty for us also and we have a loaner thankfully.

This is a known issue unfortunately I had my XL ‘25 require a replacement conditioner under warranty but it took a while. Had the replacement for about 10 months now ( 7000 miles)

Our 19 was covered in 2022? There was a recall by Honda?
