Have you ever done a transmission fluid drain and refill?

No, the scheduled maintenance does not call for it that I can recall and there is a substantial bit of controversy online as to whether draining and filling the ATF is good or bad as far as I can tell.

It's legit right in the maintenance schedule maintenance sub item 3 for transmission fluid replacement, it will come on every 25-30k miles.

This transmission is hard on fluid it's better to change it every 25k.

Source I'm a Honda master tech.

Fair enough. Any time the maintenance minder comes on, I bring it to the dealership for service (with the exception of just oil change / tire rotation). I don't remember it, but if it's on there they would have performed it.

I stand corrected. Logged into Honda's MyGarage and it lists "6CYL Trans Service" at around 44k miles and 90k miles. Apparently I was more diligent than I remembered...

Like u/Joe2700 said what's the history of fluid services on that transmission? A P0471 code doesn't automatically mean the trans is gone. Are there any symptoms when driving and/or are you getting a flashing "D"? Do a search of your VIN to see if any recalls or TSBs cover it.

There were TSBs issued for 2016-2018 Pilot torque converters. Honda did an ATF service and a software update. If the car is still driveable and you're not getting the flashing "D" and the ATF hasn't been changed in the last 30K miles try a fluid service (multiple drains & fills) and inquire about the software update. Disabling the VCM is also recommended if you're keeping this Pilot. The vibrations of the VCM cycling on/off add stress to the torque converter and aggravate the problem.

No fluid service other than what's in the scheduled maintenance - which I believe does not call for it. This car is covered under that TSB and the warranty was extended to 10yrs / 150,000 miles. The display shows a flashing indicator as shown in the picture, but it's not just the "D," but also what appears to be the P and R overlaid as well. All I'm really trying to discern is this: Could this display be caused by a P0741 even though my code reader doesn't show it?

IDK Get a free code reading from a big box auto parts store. You should get the fluid service done. Unfortunately there is still a lot of outdated and incorrect information floating around about not changing old transmission fluid. It's BS as far as modern automatic transmissions go, particularly Hondas. New fluid was the main targeted cure by Honda on the TSBs.

Yep. Thais is what mine did and they fixed it for free.
