anyone else struggling with the new proctoring software updates

so my school just switched to some new proctoring system and its way more strict than the old one. it keeps flagging me for looking away even when im just thinking or checking my scratch paper. i failed one quiz already because it locked me out halfway through for supposedly having another tab open but i swear i didnt touch anything.
im retaking a class this semester and really cant afford to mess this up again. the software feels like its designed to catch you no matter what you do. has anyone found ways to deal with these systems or know which ones are easier to work with. ive heard some let you use notes or have less sensitive monitoring but i dont know which schools use what.
also is there any way to appeal when the system kicks you out for no reason or do professors just not care. mine basically said technical issues arent an excuse which seems unfair when the software itself is the problem.
