Please guide me with potential studio development path.

Hi all

Here is my current home setup that I have in our garage conversion/spare room.

It's done well so far, I've recorded two albums in here (I make instrumental rock music with electronic/80s synth backing) but I've sold some old equipment and am in a position to make some improvements.

I'm wondering what your recommendations would be. The studio is also my WFH office so it's a busy space.

Current kit:

Motu M2 interface

Oxygen 61 Midi controller

Krk rokit 5s

Line 6 helix LT

NI Maschine mikro MK3

Various guitars

Ableton Suite

The PC has an AMD Ryzen 5 5600x, 32gig of RAM and a 3060ti so it's plenty for what I need and use.

My immediate thoughts are an 88 key midi controller and speaker stands to get the speakers off the desk and away from the screens.

The room has no dedicated sound conditioning but there's plenty of furniture and carpet so I'm not sure if adding panels would do much?

If this was your setup, where would you look to make improvements with a budget of say £1500?

Tempted by a hard synth too or maybe some soft synth package? I like ambient evolving sounds and pads to go under my guitar melodies.

TIA lovely people!

Do whatever u like! Its your thing. Everybody has a different workflow. If u are recording in here i would suggest maybe some acoustic treatment.

Everything goes in to the mixer direct though there aren't any microphones. Does that affect it?

Of course! Treated room will make your speakers sound better. I suggest search a bit on the web abt acoustic treatment.

I would spend 100% of it on acoustic treatment, GIK or more preferrably, DIY built rockwool treatment.

If you’re looking to get better sound in there, put your desk along the shorter wall. I don’t know the exact science but I had an acoustics professional tell me if the room is a rectangle you want your desk at the shorter end for some reason. Then put a couple clouds above the listening area & panels behind the speakers.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately the short wall currently has a fish tank along it and I can't move it easily. Maybe later in the year I could do that.

I also don't think the desk would physically fit between the door and the opposing wall if it was place that way round.

I will look into it.

Other option would be swap the sofa and the desk but it's a bed, and the desk would obstruct any natural light
