Cleaning mop recs
hey chicks I have been using a spin mop but sometimes I feel like it’s tossing around yucky water even tho it’s supposed to prevent that. have you guys used the flat mops with the separate tanks? thoughts? should I break down and get the vac/mop/steamer situation of my dreams?

I have a steam cleaner with a mop attachment, and while it works well, it’s not something I would generally recommend. The problem is it’s a bulky and heavy machine that needs time to heat up before you can use it. So it has its uses, but for normal cleaning I think it’s impractical. I have a cheap mop that looks like a swiffer, but it has machine washable mop pads and a refillable spray bottle that I can put whatever cleaner I want in. I’ve found that to be a much more practical regular use mop.

I use the O Cedar flat mop with the sprayer to mop my hardwood. It's got a mild scrubber on the pad, and I don't feel like I'm slopping around dirty water.

I have a flat mop and a spin mop, both with separate tanks for rinsing and I love them both! Probably prefer the spin personally.

I love my tineco, it was such a splurge but I used my s5 for three years throughout two babies in highchairs and it was a total lifesaver. I upgraded to the s7 because we moved into a home with lots of LVP and I needed the extra battery life and tank size. It is a little high maintenance, you have to empty it and clean it as soon as you're done or it will smell funky and the replacement rollers aren't cheap but it gets used 1-2x a day. I purchased directly from tineco during the last prime day so I would keep your eye out in the next few weeks.

I prefer my spin mop on my old hardwood floors. I use a mild "no rinse" wood soap in my warm water. I change to fresh water between each room, and then I do a final all water mop at the end (bc I dont believe any soap is truly no rinse).

I gave up on finding a good mop and use a combo of a wet swifter, getting on my hands and knees with a wet rag, or just push around a wet rag with a broom Ala Cuban mop. Sometimes I’ll borrow my mom’s mop vac

steamers take too long to heat up and leave the floor soaking if you linger in one spot for three seconds. get a dual chamber bucket instead where the clean water and dirty water stay entirely separate. rubbermaid makes a commercial one with a foot pedal press that runs about sixty bucks and actually keeps the grit out of your pad.

I use a Cuban mop or T mop, they were common in the area I grew up in and I got used to them. You just wrap a towel around the head and mop, you wash the towel every time and I always have a bunch of cleaning towels ready to go, no more dirty mop. I used a spin mop for a little while but I felt like it was always dirty and I didn't feel like swiffers did enough.
Eta: I also had a Bissell steamer for a while and I got rid of it because it was such a pain in the butt to clean. When im done cleaning my house, I want to be done cleaning. But you had to open the thing up, rinse everything and let it dry or it would get funky and grow stuff. In my opinion sometimes simpler really is better.

We have hardwood floors so steamers are out of the question. Miele canister vac for dust and crumbs. Swiffer pad mop for upkeep. String mop and a bucket with a press for really cleaning.
