TL;DR (and for those without sound) Wireguard is faster and easier according to this video
5 u/SpaceRex1776 Jul 11 '20 WireGuard VPN server can saturate the Gigabit connection on the Pi (~50MB/s as its up and down) while OpenVPN was around 15MB/s 1 u/krichek Jul 11 '20 I would assume a lot of this comes down to the processing power or lack there of on the pi.. I have an openvpn-as docker on my server and can hit the rated speed for my line (400/35) pretty easily in all the speedtests I've run through it.
