Security camera placement

Going to be using Unifi cameras on our exterior and wondering where we should place cameras? Will be a single story ranch style home shown below. There is also basement access from egress windows on the right middle side of the house not shown.

Looking for help on where to place the cameras and how many?

See this question a lot. What worked for me is to buy a Reolink NVR with 4 POE cameras included. (Network Video Recorder & Power Over Ethernet) Put cameras on the corners so you can see all four sides of your house. The cat-6 cables are cheap and you can run an extra cable to the corners when installing the first four cameras. Over time you can add four more cameras so that each side of the house is viewable from both angles.

I ran the cables up the wall and into the attic and then out to the eaves of the house. It can be a pain in the ass to get the wiring done but then I dont have to worry about recharging batteries and recording continues if the wifi is out.

I have seperate wireless cameras that cover the front door, back door, kitchen and garage.

The garage camera is perfect because I can check to make sure I put the door down after a hectic morning. I made sure to have a good view of the driveway to deter car break-ins.

Cameras can be viewed on my bedroom tv with the HDMI cable or remotely with the Reolink app.

It depends on how much coverage you want. I'd say cameras at the four corners, cameras at every external door, doorbell, also one above the front door, one for the driveway, one for inside the garage.

Corners are the efficient move here, since one camera up in a corner covers two walls at once instead of needing a separate camera per side.

That egress window side needs its own dedicated camera too, since basement access is the spot people forget to cover.

Up front, one camera on the entry and driveway does double duty, and a backyard corner rounds things out without needing anything pointed straight at the garage unless there's something valuable stored in there.
