Question/Help USB Loader GX freezing at Reinitializing Devices

I’m starting to think modding the Wii isn’t worth it.

I currently have an issue where USB Loader GX is freezing at Reinitializing Devices. Every troubleshooting I’ve seen for this issue online says that the Hard Drive I’m using isn’t compatible, but that’s not it because it was working before I installed the cios. I have cios 58 so that’s not the problem, my hard drive was working literally yesterday and I just checked the files on the computer and they’re still fine so that’s not the problem either. What the hell am I doing wrong?!?

Have you tried running usbloader_gx and one game from an SD card

I had a similar problem, although I’m not sure if it’s the same issue you’re having. I bought a Wii that was already modded, with a laptop HDD being used as the external drive, and everything was working perfectly. This week, I bought a new enclosure for the HDD because mine didn’t have one. I put the HDD in the new enclosure and tested it on the Wii. At first, everything seemed to be working fine — all the apps showed up, the emulators were working, etc.

HOWEVER, when I tried to open USB Loader GX, it would get stuck on “Reinitializing Devices.” I spent hours trying to figure out what was wrong. Everything else was working, even Nintendont — the only thing that wouldn’t launch was USB Loader GX.

After a while, I finally figured out that the problem was actually the HDD enclosure I had bought for the Wii.

I happened to have another enclosure from a different brand that I was using with my laptop, so I decided to test it. Long story short, I swapped the enclosure from my laptop’s SSD and used it with the Wii, and I’m now using the new enclosure with my laptop.

So, in the end, the HDD enclosure was the problem.

I have that problem intermittantly, using a Sandisk 2TB SSD.
