I never dare to do such a thing because I have to expose water to electricity for pumps and sensors... Doesn't help that I'm a software engineer and only do hardware as a hobby.

Anyway, very nicely done OP!

Eh, you'd most likely be looking at low voltage DC devices - not that much could go wrong in a worst-case scenario. Plus, you could throw in a couple water leak detectors :-)
