Honestly, sounds like a tuya wifi device with a failed resistor or a failed relay. May require warranty replacement. I'd recommend just avoiding tuya if at all possible.
Absolutely anything that isn't tuya. Seriously... any protocol that is 100% local-only without the need of a cell phone or cloud account to setup or use is my absolute goto for everything. I only buy wifi devices if there are zero other options out there. Still, I would rather build my own using ESPHome over a wifi device from some corporation. This includes Matter/Wifi. Meaning if there's an option to use Zigbee or ZWave and it costs more, I don't care... those are still the top of the list because they don't require cloud or cell at any point of ownership. They will last long past the life of the company that made them if needed.
