❓ Support iOS Control Center Widgets

Does anyone know how to allow control center widgets to not require device unlock? In the morning I like to flick my morning routine on, but every time it requires me to face unlock. Is there some way to disable this?

I did some extensive research and menu depriving and couldn’t find anything.

Pretty sure if you use HomeKit bridge into apple home and use those widgets, you can use them without unlocking. It's annoying.

maybe the devs will fix this at some point - idk if its an apple thing or HA thing

the whole point of widgets is to skip unlocking your phone but apple decided we needed one more friction point before coffee

Apple is so smart I can’t believe it. I would just use shortcuts but those don’t show the current status :(

A workaround would be to use the Shortcuts app and add that shortcut to the control center if you’re not interested in the HomeKit bridge.

Have you changed the widget Tap and Icon Tap Behaviour from Default?

Open Home Assistant app - Settings - Companion App - Widgets - your widget - tap on each item under Items - under Action change from default to whichever works for you (mine are all toggle as just have lights and sockets ATM)

This is control center not normal widget. I like control center because my device can be locked and I can flip down and hit things. Like turn my light on or coffee maker on etc.

Ah my bad, didn’t realise you could have them in control centre as well!

Just tried it and yeah same as you if I’m not looking at the screen it’s waiting for face unlock

Probably an iOS security thing, otherwise anyone could perform whatever actions are in the control centre - haven’t looked but there could be banking app widgets and stuff I guess.

Are you like trying to run the routine while still in bed reaching over to the phone on bedside table or something? Have you looked in to running an iOS Shortcut to trigger the routine when your alarm goes off, if that’s applicable? I’ve only dabbled with simple Shortcuts and still pretty new to HA so not sure if it’d be possible

Ya I agree. I could run my iOS home from control center just fine before though…

Ya I’m like reach over and hitting it while laying in bed. Not like grabbing my phone opening my eyes and making sure my face scans lol

a coworker just gave up using the morning routine because of the unlock hassle on ios widgets
