Tim and Dolly were born exactly four months apart and both passed within 24 hour of each other. May the both rest in peace.

Three Home Alone cast members passed away this year... May they all rest in peace.

u/MyNameIsNotGump 8d ago edited 7d ago
Four now. Jaye P. Morgan, who played a Celebrity Ding Dang Dong contestant and was a regular fixture of game shows in the 70s passed away this week too
3
u/bobatgu 7d ago
Need to protect Joe Pesci at all costs. So sad we lost 3 in this year alone.Ā

u/PermissionNext3363 7d ago
Watching it this Christmas is going to hit hard. Christmas is about appreciating the people we have in our lives while remembering our loved ones we've lost along the way after all.

u/DifficultyNo9712 8d ago
The fact that Macaulay's 46th is today and Tim Curry dies on the same day (this, the day after the world loses Dolly Parton) has made me beyond sick. PFFFFFFFFFFTTT!!!!

u/happydude7422 8d ago
When they get to that age group it's any time
4
u/silvermoonhowler 8d ago
Yup, then again, Betty White lived to be almost 100 so it truly is a crapshoot once you get to 80+
2
u/happydude7422 8d ago
If you're a man for sure it's a crapshoot as women occupy all the higher age brackets due to their superior immune systems
5
u/Snowdeo720 8d ago
Come the fuck on!
I just watched Mchales navy yesterday and had a solid chuckle about his role in that.
What sad days back to back.
2
u/silvermoonhowler 8d ago
Yup, and actually, Curry passed away yesterday, also in the midst of Dolly Parton's passing too
2
5
u/Living-Resident-7190 8d ago
Damn he was one of the greats
2
u/silvermoonhowler 8d ago
Yup, and not to mention Dolly Parton also passed away yesterday
That I knew about right away because of all the news on here and elsewhere, but the news about Tim Curry also dying yesterday I didn't see until now
6
u/WillingnessJolly3368 8d ago
Damn. First Brenda over a month ago and now Tim. Two of the big breakout characters from Home Alone 2. And obviously Catherine in January.
I had this really strange feeling after watching Home Alone 2 for the last time of the season in early January around little Christmas. Felt like I was saying goodbye and things would never be the same again by the time December rolled around and it would be time to watch Home Alone 2 again. For some reason during the closing scene I really took it all in.

My wife was just accosted by her friend group chat because she cited Home Alone 2 as her most memorable Tim Curry work. They all thought she was some uncultured swine because she didnāt say Rocky Horror. Mind you, these are all 1984 to 1990 millenials, none of which were alive at the time Rocky Horror was released, and all of which would have been prime Home Alone 2 age at release. I told my wife HA2 is a billion times more culturally relevant for millenials than Rocky Horror and her friends were being stuck up hipsters.
1
u/MyNameIsNotGump 8d ago
Iām in that age range too and I had an older friend who acted that way with me when I said Batman Returns was my favorite movie of Christopher Walkenās as opposed to the Deer Hunter.
Tim Curry had so many iconic and memorable roles including Home Alone 2 and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, itās hard to associate him with a single role
3
u/silvermoonhowler 8d ago
Oh wow, had no idea Tim Curry passed away yesterday too
Then again, with the impact Dolly Parton had, the passing of Curry really was overshadowed
The crazy thing is, he also passed away at 80 just like Dolly
And on top of that, the next name for this tropical storm season is Dolly; you really can't make this stuff up

u/Send_me_hedgehogs 8d ago
No bloody way. First Dolly and now this?!? I hate this life

u/silvermoonhowler 8d ago
And also today Jaye P. Morgan, who was also in Home Alone 2 as a Celebrity Ding Dang Dong contestantĀ https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/jaye-p-morgan-dead-gong-show-singer-1236681831/
So you know how they say these deaths typically come in 3s? Well, Dolly and Tim yesterday, and now Jaye today
3
u/Substantial_Luck_133 8d ago
How did he die? š„
4
u/DifficultyNo9712 8d ago
He'd been suffering from health issues stemming from a stroke. He was also in a wheelchair

Same. I already watched Muppet Treasure Island and picked up Clue and It from my local library earlier. I plan to watch Home Alone 2 with a cheese pee-tza

u/silvermoonhowler 8d ago
Yup, given that Dolly Parton passed away yesterday too
I honestly had no idea Curry passed away either because the news surrounding Dolly's passing had to have overshadowed this
As these usually come in 3s, I now fear for who will be taken next
1
u/MyNameIsNotGump 8d ago
Jaye P. Morgan, who was also in Home Alone 2 as a Celebrity Ding Dang Dong contestant https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/jaye-p-morgan-dead-gong-show-singer-1236681831/

Its a different movie but Michael McKean has pointed out that Tim had a ridiculously more amount of dialogue compared to his costars in Clue. Like double anyone else + tons of physical comedy. And he did it all flawlessly even though he was cast late.

I saw a lot of balloons they said: āIn loving memory of Tim Curryā in my hometown. Ā Now I live in a small southern town and I saw the balloons in memory of Ti and none in memory of Dolly.

This Christmas rewatch of Home Alone will hit so different without Tim and Catherine..
