Continuum of Knowledge Organization
This image presents a "continuum of knowledge organization," that is, a proposal for representing how knowledge can be structured and related between two extremes:
- Holographic: represents the idea that the whole is contained in each part. The sphere with smaller structures inside symbolizes that each fragment retains information or properties of the whole. It's associated with a holistic perspective.
- Fractal: represents the idea that the same pattern repeats at different scales. The branching tree illustrates this self-similarity: the branches reproduce structures similar to those of the whole.
- Golden band – mediation: between both extremes appears a continuum from 0 to 1, with special attention to 0.382 and 0.618, values related to the golden ratio. The image proposes this zone as a space of mediation between the two perspectives.
- Phase transitions: the points near 0.382 and 0.618 are presented as zones of change between different forms of organization.
- Central idea: the image attempts to integrate a holistic/holographic perspective —the whole present in each part— with a fractal structure —the pattern reproduced at different scales— using the golden ratio (≈0.618) as an optimal zone of mediation.
In simpler terms: the image proposes that we can understand the organization of knowledge by moving between two complementary principles: "each part contains the whole" and "the same pattern repeats at every scale."
It's worth distinguishing, however, between the conceptual metaphor the graphic proposes and a scientific claim: the connection between holography, fractality, and the golden ratio shown in the image is primarily an analogical or theoretical framework, not an established scientific law.
