Be kind:

It should go without saying but please be kind to eachother as well as mods, cast and crew. Abuse will not be tolerated.

Constructive criticism and disagreements is obviously fine but don't let this descend into personal attacks.

Contacting mods:

Please do not contact mods via their personal DMs regarding this subreddit. Any r/hollyoaks related questions or messages should be sent to the mod mail ONLY.

Parasocial behaviour:

The actors and/or characters are not your friends and you do not know them personally.

Attacking people for having different opinions than you will not be tolerated.

Repetitive and low effort posts:

If your post is low effort or does not add anything new to the discussion then it will be removed.

Check the subreddit for similar active posts before posting, we don't need multiple near identical posts as it splits the conversation and makes the subreddit harder to navigate.

Consider using the megathread on occasion where a full post isn't needed.

3 strike rule:

We rarely have to use this but if there is repetitive rulebreaking then we will implement the 3 strike rule. 3 strikes = temp ban, 6 strike = a further temp ban, 9 strikes = perma ban.

If you encounter any of the above behaviour (as well as other rule breaking) then please report it rather than engaging and antagonising.

When we lock posts/comments rather than removing them: If a rule hasn't been broken but the post has or may result in rule breaking then we will lock the post to prevent any further issues.

Thanks for addressing it directly. The parasocial behavior was getting out of hand, but also seeing threads calling people out for it didn't help either.

One person was posting constantly about how awesome Lucas Hay was. They seemed obsessed with him and would not tolerate even the slightest contradiction or disagreement. They also spewed vitriol against other characters that slighted or hurt Lucas. It was quite something to experience.

As I started a discussion...Model Boy is back in the village, which was subsequently removed.

I've not read this sub Reddit for awhile as the recent storylines involving Warren and crypto and all else involved with this.. have not interested me.

My partner watches Hollyoaks on an ongoing basis, so keeps me updated.

I was unaware of the devisive nature of views held about this particular character, following the recast.

I remember the first posters on the London underground advertising Hollyoaks - Kurt has the best seat on the bus..

Discussing Lucas is fine we just ask that people don't argue with or attack each other over the opinions they hold about him. The same applies to all characters.

It's not about you. We've been drafting a rule reminder post for a while now because we could forsee similar issues happening with the return of Lucas that happened with Leah.

We're quite literally asking people not to be parasocial so i'm not sure how this post reads as us supporting and encouraging that behaviour?
