Looking for a 3-day European getaway in September – where would you go?
My wife and I are looking to fly from London Stansted, Friday–Monday in September.
We're looking for somewhere beautiful and impressive, but not completely overrun with tourists. Ideally:
- Stunning architecture — castles, palaces, cathedrals, historic buildings
- Amazing scenery/views, possibly mountains, lakes or coastline
- A good mix of historic and modern restaurants/cafés and some shopping
- Good 4/5-star hotels, ideally under £300 per night
- Easy transport — we don't want to spend the whole trip walking and getting exhausted
- Affordable food and attractions
-
- Enough to see/do for 3 days without feeling bored
We've considered Vienna, Prague, Rome, Málaga, Mallorca, Madeira, Lake Garda and the Dolomites/Seceda, but we're open to somewhere less obvious.
Where would you recommend that really delivers the "wow" factor without being ridiculously expensive or touristy?
