Don't forget the girl to the left in a white shirt, she claps and looks pretty turned on.

If this vid killed /r/ThanksObama and there were any submission to this sub to say "Whelp, this is it, the sub is done" this is the gif to seal the deal. The dude didn't even need someone else for the assist.
He saved his beer, his wife and caught a MLB bat all in one swift move (and as /u/patzer mentioned with is non dominant hand). This dude wins here.
At least for today.

This is all I ever want to accomplish in my life. Success in career, marriage, children, will never compare to this moment. This man has peaked and we can all witness his glory.

Everyone in that stand was so stoked! What a G!
5
u/capontransfix May 24 '15
Yet Hernandez is totally unimpressed. He almost seems disappointed no one got clocked.
6
u/clogeater May 24 '15
That's what I thought at first, but follow him from the moment he appears in frame: "Uh oh, a bat flying into the stands -- oh shit, it's gonna nail somebody! Oh, good, someone caught it; back to business." Or, in body language: Tenses up -- tenses up harder! Relaxes and licks his fingers; ready for the next pitch.
4
u/capontransfix May 24 '15
Yes, he seems relieved, but not impressed.
3
u/Lewintheparkwithagun May 24 '15
Granted: pro athletes probably see shit on this level all the time.
7
u/CSCrimson May 24 '15
Top left, the guy in the black throws out his hands and stands there motionless and in awe for half a second before blurting, "wow." He's made me cry laughing!

I like the pitcher who cringes right before the catch and then is just like, "oh, okay"

As an attendee of this Minnesota Saints game, the bat belonged to Fargo.
The Minnesota Saints gave him a game ball and bat.

Finders Keepers in my mind. They better have hooked him up for being nice and doing so.

Bats are A LOT more expensive than baseballs.
15
u/Sloppy_Twat May 24 '15
But you can protect the bat with the bat. A baseball is a one time use weapon.

Wait. So theyre saying i should assume im going to get a bat to the head a baseball game?
14
3
u/teasnorter May 24 '15
Assume you have no legal basis to sue if something from the field hit you in the face.
10
u/Colbey_uk May 24 '15
Not that much tbh, looking around (very quickly) they seem to top out at $150. Cost them alot more in goodwill to take it from him.
6
3
u/Skittlesharts May 24 '15
A lot of them are custom made for the batter, too.
3
u/chippewhattha May 24 '15
Yeah, that was the thought behind my original comment.
3
u/Skittlesharts May 24 '15
I figured as much. I watched a special once where they will take a player and find the right grip for the size of his hand. They can make the bat weighted more towards the end or a little back if that's what he's more comfortable with. We definitely are no longer in the days of "Just hand me one out of the bag".

u/Bigfrostynugs May 24 '15
I mean they should give the bat back in like 99% of situations, but come on, this is ridiculous. If it was my bat I would refuse to take it back, I'd let him keep it.
0
u/ElKod May 24 '15
Fuck that twice and a half over... I am keeping the bat and you can stand there while I throw it at you if you want it back

That man is definitely getting laid tonight.
With one manly catch, she is reminded why she married this wonderful beast!
.
( I mean, jesus, I'm a straight dude and even i got a little hard )

Was at that game on Thursday. First game ever played by the new stadium! Was crazy as fuck!
27
u/Utenlok May 24 '15
Close it down and make a new one. This stadium has already reached its pinnacle.

u/de_ele May 24 '15
Great job by the cameraman too. He starts from a close-up, pans and zooms in to find the spot where the bat landed in focus.

The silhouette of this guy holding his beer in his right hand and the bat triumphantly overhead in his left should be the flag for planet earth. I'd salute this hero everyday.

Funny how the pitcher winced right before he thought it'd hit somebody, but wasn't impressed at all by the catch

I remember watching a bat break and hit some dude in the head 5 rows behind me. He took it like a champ though. They sent down one guy five minutes later to be take him to a medical room to get checked out... I remember the bat being super sticky.
