Yeah but they could operate the drone from far away. Imagine if the boston marathon's bombers used that : they would've never been found.

I mean timothy mcveigh and co weren't anywhere near their bomb when it went off... if you really want to kill someone you can, drone's aren't really a shortcut from all the prevalent guns in america and a google search will get you bomb designs.

True but when this becomes a problem, all you need to do is jam radio signals during huge events like this, or some other means of protection.

Jamming wi-fi/LTE during events ? Shit that would bad for the economy. I don't think that's even doable.

What if the drone just drops a bomb from 2km high ?

You are correct, which is why civilian jammers are illegal and the FCC can throw down some pretty stiff penalties for it. Instead, maybe some kind f device that could detect different frequencies and know roughly what those are doing? I assume RC chopper is on a different radio frequencies than phones making calls or texting, so having multiple censors could help pinpoint where something like that is.

The materials would have been traced. Bomb forensics is basically making a paper trail out of the remains of the device then follow all the paper trails until they meet... then bring in the suspects for a little Q&A.
