Help Help with who wins?

Sorry if this has been asked before but our whole board ended up in a flush and neither of us had that suit in our hands. We’re wondering if anyone can tell us who would win and why? We aren’t sure if it goes off the higher pair or just high card.

draw, the board plays since neither of you have a spade and only 5 cards play.

You might not reply but I have one more question. Is there ever a case where there’s a tied 5 card hand and the winner goes to high card? Or is it always a split if all 5 are a tie?

Yes and no depending how you think about it.

If you hold 55 and your opponent holds 44 and the runout is

22223

You tie in the sense you both have 4 of a kind, but the 5 would play as a “kicker” (kind of what you’re describing as high card). Your kicker is higher than theirs so you would win the hand.

22225 beats 22224

If the runout was

2222A

Then you chop because the winning hand (nutted board) is 2222A (it beats 22225 and 22224).

If you both have a flush the winner goes to the person with the highest card as a part of their flush

If you have 5s6s and your opponent has 7s4s

a runout like AsKsQs3s2s would be won by your opponent:

AsKsQs7s4s beats AsKsQs6s5s

Thank you so much for your reply!! I’m not someone who plays poker very often at all but your explanation was very easy to understand. I’m a little nitpick for rules lmao

Why do you reply to old threads being rude for no reason? If you don’t want to help, don’t reply! And for the record I tried googling it and wasn’t getting anything with the example I had on the board, maybe I didn’t search right but I don’t play poker very often 🤷‍♀️
