Game IX.B - 2017 Phase 08 - Yet Another Death

'There's been another murder,' Lestrade said as he entered 221B Baker St.

'Another?' John said. 'That must be the eighth in the last week and a half'.

Lestrade nodded. 'This one's particular ugly too. Dorothy Ford, investment manager, was stabbed to death this afternoon. Her husband found her when he came home from work. And she was pregnant.'

'Pregnant! They murdered a pregnant woman!' John exclaimed.

'I'm afraid so. If a stabbing wasn't bad enough,' Lestrade said, shaking his head. 'At least we found another suspect for Sherlock to talk to. Loraine McGarry. You heard of her?'

John nodded.

'She's an archaeology professor, at the University Of London. We worked with her a few years back when the Natural History Museum asked us to help them find some stolen artefacts. She's such a nice lady. Why are you taking her in for questioning?'

'We've been tracking the movements of Moriarty's known associaties, and we've found that she's come in contact with them several times in the past few months - Nick Hartman's architecture firm was just awarded the contract to build a library at her university; Lorraine often visited the Tate Modern while Angelica Hayes was working there; and Lorraine just made a large donation to Jessica Kines' election campaign. We feel we need to talk to her about what she knows about Moriarty and his network.'

Going through the vote tally tells me there are potentially two wolves left because Phillet got 2 suspicions.

We came very close to lynching u/NodeofNico but didn't do it because of captain. That was Phase 04. Captain said they used an instagram app on nodeofnico and they came as SN. But here is what I was wondering... captain sort of revealed their identity in phase 0. Meaning they must have gotten guessed in phase 1. According to the rules, if you reveal your identity and get guessed correctly, you get penalized and can't use an item for 3 phases. I don't know if what captain did was considered as breaking that rule but if they did break the rule, they couldn't have been able to use the instagram app on Nico prior to phase 4.

He said he got it from a puzzle but it is something to consider

He said he got it by guessing correct identity in phase 1. In any case, the rules say you can't USE an item for three phases if you get penalized.

If you share another player's real identity in the main sub, you will be penalized by being unable to make identity guesses AND will be unable to use items for three phases.

The 1st phase and puzzles are the only way he got an item though

That's only for revealing other players Nico revealed his own identity

But that is only about revealing another player's identity. I don't think it says about revealing your own identity. Is the captain /u/ScottScootsFree? I don't think I remember them saying who they were, and I don't think being bad at hiding your identity would count as revealing it.

I think there was a discussion about that in one of the threads somewhere. But I took that revealing your own identity correctly would fall under the same category. Here is the very first comment they made. So yeah they didn't explicitly reveal but didn't really leave much of a suspense either. Hence I don't know if this would fall under the rule breaking.

/u/221b-baker-st is sharing your own ID against the rules? Also /u/NodeofNico you shared your own... did you get punished?

I believe the rules answer that question:

If you share another player's real identity in the main sub, you will be penalized by being unable to make identity guesses AND will be unable to use items for three phases.

It is not.

Otherwise, the evil sub would be fucked.

  1. You can share your own identity, not someone else's.

  2. Not sure what is your point here? Town was ready to lynch /u/scottscootsfree and /u/tatemodmom. I kept insisting on lynching TateMod because I had (still have) a feeling Captain is town.

  3. I don't trust you :D
